Activities at Meadow Park Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Life at Meadow Park Care Home

Meadow Park Street Party

The whole home celebrated the coronation of King Charles III on bank holiday with a good old fashioned street party, despite the gloomy weather, staff brought the battering boards inside, and the party went ahead. Local singer Mark McCann entertained everyone with songs from the decades, party food and drinks were flowing all day, residents waved their flags and danced the afternoon away.

The rich history of coronations

Across our services Residents had a wonderful time participating in an interactive virtual talk with Pippa Catterall, Professor of History and Policy at the University of Westminster, where we delved into the rich history of coronations.

During the talk, we explored fascinating topics such as the coronation chair, the crown, and other significant aspects related to King Charles' upcoming coronation. Our residents were thrilled to have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the memoirs of past coronations from 1937 and 1953, as well as learning about the coronation oath and what to expect from the ceremony, including the music, guests, and pageantry.

The great outdoors!

Residents have been making the most of the finer weather. Our memory lane community benefit from an enclosed courtyard with garden furniture and potting beds for all to enjoy. It’s like a little sun trap out there and the residents love it!  We enjoy the great outdoors.

Easter egg hunt

Residents really enjoyed getting out into the homes courtyard garden for a very special Easter egg hunt, and they were accompanied by the Easter Bunny himself, residents dug up the beds to find chocolate eggs and treats and there was lots of laughter to be heard! Happy Easter.

Easter celebrations

Residents enjoyed a jam packed Easter with themed arts and crafts, making chocolate nests, Easter Egg Hunts, enjoying lots of delicious food and drink, decorating the home and much more! We love a ‘holiday’ and a chance to celebrate here at Meadow Park.

Community spirit

Residents of Meadow Park took delight in supporting their local group, who take a drive out around Northumberland every year to raise money and collect chocolate Easter Eggs which are then distributed to children’s wards in our local hospitals over the Easter period.

Residents clapped, waved and cheered as around 500 motorbikes passed the home, all tooting their horns and waving back to us. It was a lovely sight, and such a good cause.
