Activities at Mallard Court Care Home

Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life. We provide a wide range of group activities and individual one to one activities to meet our residents needs including musical entertainers, PAT dog visits, minibus outings, themed events and much more!

We take a person centred approach when planning each individuals activities so they can achieve a feeling of self worth and well-being.

We hold monthly meetings with the residents and also regular meetings with their family and friends, discussing any ideas that they may have, and also any problems that their may have. Both of our activities coordinators, Steve and Lynne, have completed NAPA Activity Workers Level 2 Award training, and are continually seeking new ideas so we can ensure life in the home is as varied and interesting as possible. We encourage strong community links with the local schools, colleges and local charities in the community. Steve is supported also by his dogs, Tia, Pebbles and Oscar who give great pleasure to the residents in our home, and can often be seen either on a persons lap or being taken for a walk around the home. Many of the visitors that come into Mallard Court commented that it is so friendly and welcoming.

Steve Moss

Lifestyle Coordinator

Hi, my name is Steve, and I have been a Lifestyle Coordinator at Mallard Court since 2006, and have achieved the NAPA (National Association of Activity Providers) Level 2 Award in Activity Provision in the Care Sector.

We provide a wide range of activities for the people we support, as well as for their families and friends. I also love to have one-to-one chats with residents who like to reminisce about their lives over a cup of tea and some biscuits.

We have our own minibus and have fun days out sight-seeing, having a picnic or going a local pub for a drink and a meal. We also arrange for local artists to provide musical entertainment for everyone at Mallard Court.

Activities and Events Partnerships

As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

Bonfire Night

We had a lovely day here at Mallard Court Care Home in Bridlington, celebrating Bonfire Night.

We enjoyed a glass of wine or two with nibbles in the afternoon, whilst interacting with our homes Magic Table.y

This piece of sensory equipment has a fabulous interactive firework display, and we also watched firework displays from around the world, on our giant TV screen.

Our Bonfire Night evening meal included hot soup and roll, steak pie with mushy peas and mint sauce. Finished off with delicious Yorkshire Parkin.

Memory Lane Cafe Welcomes the Ukes of Hazzard

Mallard Court care home, in Bridlington invited members of the local community to their monthly Dementia Café.

We know the importance of supporting our local community and hold monthly groups, specifically for those living with dementia or caring for a loved one.

Taking place every month from 2pm-4pm, guests will have a chance to meet other carers supporting others living with dementia. Free to all, the Dementia Café at the home provides small respite and social support.

During the care group session, guests will also have a chance to meet the team at the home, to discuss any questions they might have about care. This month, attendees were delighted by the performance of the ‘Ukes of Hazzard’ ukulele band, who brought joy and entertainment to everyone present.

Wine & Cheese Tasting

The end of October saw our residents, relatives and colleagues enjoy our homes Cheese & Wine event.

A special thank you goes to our Head Chef, Gill, who sourced a selection of local cheeses, as well as some more exotic ones, and paired them with a selection of wines.

Our residents and guests had a great afternoon trying different wines with the various cheeses along with, grapes, biscuits and crackers and what better soundtrack to accompany our event than the 'Best of Frank Sinatra'

The home was full of animal mischief and swashbuckling fun as we welcomed some very special feathery guests courtesy of ‘Parrots and Pirates’

Residents at Mallard Court were pleasantly surprised to see their new feathered friends awaiting them in our homes lounge area against a pirate themed backdrop!

Inca, Mishka and Aurora. Three beautiful parrots were on hand to happily meet and greet our residents and enjoyed receiving bird treats from them.

Namaste Experience

Our residents had a delightful time together as we transformed our lounge into a tranquil namaste room.
