Activities at Mallard Court Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life. We provide a wide range of group activities and individual one to one activities to meet our residents needs including musical entertainers, PAT dog visits, minibus outings, themed events and much more!
We take a person centred approach when planning each individuals activities so they can achieve a feeling of self worth and well-being.
We hold monthly meetings with the residents and also regular meetings with their family and friends, discussing any ideas that they may have, and also any problems that their may have. Both of our activities coordinators, Steve and Lynne, have completed NAPA Activity Workers Level 2 Award training, and are continually seeking new ideas so we can ensure life in the home is as varied and interesting as possible. We encourage strong community links with the local schools, colleges and local charities in the community. Steve is supported also by his dogs, Tia, Pebbles and Oscar who give great pleasure to the residents in our home, and can often be seen either on a persons lap or being taken for a walk around the home. Many of the visitors that come into Mallard Court commented that it is so friendly and welcoming.

Steve Moss
Hi, my name is Steve, and I have been a Lifestyle Coordinator at Mallard Court since 2006, and have achieved the NAPA (National Association of Activity Providers) Level 2 Award in Activity Provision in the Care Sector.
We provide a wide range of activities for the people we support, as well as for their families and friends. I also love to have one-to-one chats with residents who like to reminisce about their lives over a cup of tea and some biscuits.
We have our own minibus and have fun days out sight-seeing, having a picnic or going a local pub for a drink and a meal. We also arrange for local artists to provide musical entertainment for everyone at Mallard Court.
Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies
Life at Mallard Court Care Home

World Parkinson's Day
Staff and residents at the home marked World Parkinson's Day, which takes place on the 11th April.
For this, the home welcomed the local Parkinson's UK branch for a special edition of the home's regular support café.
The group and residents spoke about how Parkinson’s has affected their lives and how they support one another. Homemade cakes and refreshments were on offer, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

Residents join local group cafe
We had a delightful time together this morning at the Bridlington Club for Young People. This is an excellent venue, and we were all very impressed with it. It was the community meeting of the local Parkinson's Support Group, held at the club every month.
Sue and David Radford, who are Parkinson's UK volunteers, organize these wonderful sessions for everyone to enjoy. Special guests Sam and Kim from the local police force gave us a brilliant insight into what is being done in our community and provided very helpful advice.

Residents attend St. Catherines fundraiser
We are having a fabulous time this morning, here at The Clubhouse at Bridlington Rugby Club. It is Saint Catherine's Bridlington Support Group Coffee Morning, raising funds in aid of Saint Catherine's and what a lovely atmosphere.
The venue is very well attended with a variety of stalls and delicious refreshments including scones with a cuppa! We look forward to the next event, and wish to say a big thank you for the invitation.

Community Cancer Support Group
Staff and residents at Mallard Court care home in Bridlington have invited neighbours and friends from the local community to their free monthly cancer support coffee morning.
Members of the café spoke candidly and bravely about their experiences of cancer and how it touched them, Patricia a resident at the home said “I lost my Mum to cancer when she was 50 years old, it was no age to lose your Mum, from there I became a Macmillan volunteer at Bridlington and also Scarborough hospital offering support to others, it’s so important that people realize support is out there”
Betty another resident has endured skin cancer 3 times and said “it’s so important to accept help and support and to never suffer on your own”

Home host 'Coffee with a Copper'
On Thursday 13th March at 2.30pm, residents and members of the community are looking forward to welcoming members of the local police force to join the home at the Mallard Court Care Home for their ‘Coffee with a Coppa’ event. PCSO Len and PC Tricia will speak to the audience about their own career paths, why they wished to join the force and talk to the group about the latest goings-on from within the town, before taking questions from those in attendance.
Ange Dooley-Widd, the General Manager has extended the invitation throughout the local area, stating that “to say thank you for all the great work our emergency services do for us, we here at Mallard Court Care Home are inviting all members of the police, ambulance and fire services to pop in and take their duty break on us for free.

Home celebrate young volunteer, Grace!
General Manager Ange Dooley-Widd and the team at Mallard Court are delighted to celebrate their young volunteer, Grace, who is just 11 years old. Grace's regular visits bring immense joy to all the residents.
Activity Coordinator Tracy presented Grace with a special Mallard Court Volunteer certificate to acknowledge her hard work and dedication. The celebration was dedicated to recognizing not only Grace but also the incredible efforts of volunteers who go above and beyond for our residents and in the wider community.
