Activities at Mallard Court Care Home

We provide a wide range of group activities and individual one to one activities to meet our residents needs including musical entertainers, PAT dog visits, minibus outings, themed events and much more!

We take a person centred approach when planning each individuals activities so they can achieve a feeling of self worth and well-being.

We hold monthly meetings with the residents and also regular meetings with their family and friends, discussing any ideas that they may have, and also any problems that their may have. Both of our activities coordinators, Steve and Lynne, have completed NAPA Activity Workers Level 2 Award training, and are continually seeking new ideas so we can ensure life in the home is as varied and interesting as possible. We encourage strong community links with the local schools, colleges and local charities in the community. Steve is supported also by his dogs, Tia, Pebbles and Oscar who give great pleasure to the residents in our home, and can often be seen either on a persons lap or being taken for a walk around the home. Many of the visitors that come into Mallard Court commented that it is so friendly and welcoming.

Steve Moss

Lifestyle Coordinator

Hi, my name is Steve, and I have been a Lifestyle Coordinator at Mallard Court since 2006, and have achieved the NAPA (National Association of Activity Providers) Level 2 Award in Activity Provision in the Care Sector.

We provide a wide range of activities for the people we support, as well as for their families and friends. I also love to have one-to-one chats with residents who like to reminisce about their lives over a cup of tea and some biscuits.

We have our own minibus and have fun days out sight-seeing, having a picnic or going a local pub for a drink and a meal. We also arrange for local artists to provide musical entertainment for everyone at Mallard Court.

Life at Mallard Court Care Home

Virtual trip to Puffin Sanctuary

We took a wonderful virtual trip to Iceland’s Puffin Rescue Centre at the Beluga Whale Sanctuary.

We were able to virtually meet some of the rescued Atlantic Puffins and to learn interesting facts about their care and unique lives. We took a peek into their lives in the wild, the Puffling rescue program in the Westman Islands, and how SEA LIFE Trust Beluga Whale Sanctuary’s team takes care of these charismatic little birds each day.

It was a very exciting experience, enjoyed by all.

Home celebrates activity coordinators 15-yrs service

An Activities Co-ordinator at Mallard Court care home in Bridlington has received a prestigious 15 year Service Award in celebration of working at Barchester Healthcare for 15 years.

Steve Moss one of the Activities Co-ordinator team, started at Barchester in July 2006 and has worded with residents and their relatives to ensure that their needs have been met over the years.

Steve has achieved this milestone. It is dedication like this that ensures our residents are provided with a happy place to live.”

Blenheim Palace virtual talk

Ahead of Armed Forces Day, we were transported back in time for a World War II themed talk and tour of Blenheim Palace, hosted by Antonia Keaney, the Palace’s social historian and author.

Entitled ‘Evacuees and Espionage,’ Antonia’s wartime themed talk focused on how the Marlborough family, estate staff and the Palace itself played a full and energetic part in the war effort.

The talk and tour told the story of how the Palace prepared for the worst, survived the onslaught of 400 boys being evacuated to Blenheim and kept the secrets of MI5.

It was a lovely experience, enjoyed by all.

World Jugglers Day

Mallard Court care Home celebrated World Jugglers day on Saturday 15th June and had so much fun finding out about the history and origins of this ancient art and having a go ourselves!

Juggling day was established by the International Jugglers Association and is dedicated to preserving and spreading the history of the art of juggling. The first evidence of Juggling as an art form was located on the wall of a tomb in Egypt, depicting a group of women dancing and performing with at least 3 balls.

We have never laughed as much having a go with some residents and staff having some serious juggling skills of a kind and we also did a bit of Hoola Hooping!

Waggy tails at Mallard Court

Tia the Labrador came to visit today and she is lovely gentle girl and our residents love her so much. There were lots of smiles and laughter around the home as Tia enjoyed lots of snuggles and attention. Tia had a waggy tail the whole day and the smiles she created are worth their weight in gold!  Residents here at Mallard Court enjoy their regular pet therapy sessions as conversations flow as they share stories of their favourite pets over the years.

Euro 2020 ready!

We are enjoying the UEFA EURO 2020 football competition on our 60” Smart TV cheering on England, Wales & Scotland.   Drinks, nibbles and sweets are on hand as we cheer on our favourite team!
