Activities at Lydfords Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.
We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Carole Hierons
Hello, my name is Carole and I am the Activities Lead here at Lydfords.
I have worked in this role for many years and I would not to do anything else.
My job is to plan and oversee the amazing life enrichment activities and trips for all of our residents. It is such a rewarding role and I love planning and doing crafts with everyone.

Christmas Carols and Mulled Wine
Residents, family and friends had a wonderful afternoon of singing Christmas Carols with mulled wine, followed by the official turning on of the Christmas lights.
Thank you to the Uckfield Mayor, Councillor Karen Bedwell for doing the honours. These are moments we all treasure and get us in the festive spirit.

It's A Wonderful Life At Lydfords

Intergenerational Christmas Fun
This month we have welcomed back the East Hoathly Toddler for a morning of Christmas activities.
Residents watched and help the children decorate gingerbread men. This was then followed by some Christmas singing by the fireplace.
The toddler group visits us every month to join in with fun and game. The children and residents get some much joy out of their regular visits.

Cheque Presented To The Deans Senior Tea Club
Lydfords care home in East Hoathly recently presented The Deans Senior Tea Club with a cheque for £1000 towards the cost of activities, entertainment and refreshments. The Deans Senior Tea Club runs weekly groups in Peacehaven, Telscombe and Saltdean to combat loneliness and isolation in the elderly.
The grant had been awarded by Barchester’s Charitable Foundation, a charity that helps older people and adults with a disability or mental health problems across England, Scotland and Wales by offering grants to help people connect or re-connect with others in their local community.
General Manger, Anthony Butler and Home Services Advisor, Sam Harding went to visit the club in Telscombe to present them with the cheque and see the fabulous work they do. They spent the morning chatting to volunteers, spending time with the attendees and were invited to join in with the morning activities.
Anthony, General Manager at Lydfords Care Home, said: “We are always keen to show as much support as we can to local charities. It was amazing to see so many people enjoying the Tuesday group. They have been able to make new friends and they themselves said how much it has helped them all. We feel very passionately about preventing loneliness and isolation and you can see this is their priority here also.”

Bingo Night!

East Hoathly And Halland Carnival
Staff and residents at Lydfords in East Hoathly joined in with the celebrations at the East Hoathly and Halland Carnival last Saturday on the 9th November.
The residents were invited to judge the children’s fancy dress competition and award the winners. Everyone made such an effort and it was a very difficult decision.
