Activities at Lydfords Care Home

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Afternoon Tea At Eastbourne Pier

Residents went on a trip to Eastbourne beach. They enjoyed a walk along the seafront and then onto the pier. The Sun was shining and the sea air refreshing.

You can’t go on the pier with stopping at the Victorian Tea Rooms. It was lovely sitting under the chandelier and sampling their delights.

There’s something about a trip to the beach that makes you smile and everyone came back having had a wonderful time.

Holy Communion With Father James Vine

Father James Vine of East Hoathly Church gave his first Communion here at Lydfords.
It was a great success and our residents thought it was a lovely service.
Father James will be coming once a month. Residents are able to join him in the lounge for hymns, listen to readings and take communion if they wish.

Tea In The Village At Muffins Coffee Shop

Residents enjoyed a lovely stroll into the village with a stop at the local coffee shop for some light refreshments, a bit of sunshine and chatting to passers by.

It was an enjoyable way to spend the afternoon.

Exercise In The Garden

It was such a lovely morning at Lydfords today that our fitness instructor Suzi Tait thought it would be a lovely idea to have the exercise class in the garden.

Doing yoga whilst listening to the birds in the trees was very tranquil and great for the mind, body and soul.

Trip To East Hoathly Farmers Market

Residents from Lydfords strolled into the village and went along to the East Hoathly Farmers Market for the afternoon.

The atmosphere was brilliant and there were some fantastic stalls to look at. They enjoyed a refreshing drink in the sunshine and chatted to the local residents of the village. Peter visited the local bakery stall and got himself some treats to enjoy later on.

It is so lovely to have these things happening on our doorstep and be able to be a part of it. The village has a real community spirit that we take full advantage off.

Nova School of Dance Performs At Lydfords

Lydfords care home, in East Hoathly recently had a visit from the children at Nova School of Dane.

The performance took place in the garden at the home. Residents sat out there and were treated to a wonderful display from the dancers, some being as young as three years old. Afterwards resident’s and the children got to chat about their love of dancing and everyone gave them a lovely round of applause.

General Manager, Rikki of Lydfords, said: “We invited the group to the home as it is so important to encourage intergenerational activities for both our residents and the children who visit. Everyone at our home had a lot of fun on the day, and love our young visitors. If anyone ever wants to stop in for a lovely afternoon with your young ones, or just for a cuppa and a break, we’d love to have you join us.”

One of our residents was a professional ballerina, she said "they are all so talented". She loved talking to the girls afterwards.
