Activities at Lydfords Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.
We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Hello, my name is Carole and I am the Activities Lead here at Lydfords.
I have worked in this role for many years and I would not to do anything else.
My job is to plan and oversee the amazing life enrichment activities and trips for all of our residents. It is such a rewarding role and I love planning and doing crafts with everyone.

As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies
Life at Lydfords Care Home
Arlington Bluebell Walk
What a lovely trip we have had to the wonderful Arlington Bluebell Walk & Farm Trail, where we previously delivered some home made cakes for their charity tea room.
Some of our residents rented mobility scooters so we could go exploring in the gorgeous bluebell woodland. We had such a lovely morning. We stopped in to see their sheep and goats, plus a pit stop to have tea and cake.
St Georges Day Celebrations
What a great way to celebrate England's patron saint - with the grand opening of our new mobile bar!
We kicked off the celebrations this afternoon in style with live music, flowing drinks and a brilliant atmosphere. The dance floor was a hive of twists and jives.
Drink orders were taken and residents enjoyed sherry, beer and bucks fizz.
The new bar was a huge hit and is fully stocked with drinks residents have chosen to enjoy!
Planting At The Pavilion
We love gardening at Lydfords and this time the hanging baskets were on the agenda.
Residents and family joined Carole at the Pavilion for an afternoon of gardening in the Sun.
They planted bulbs and new plants in the baskets and freshened up some of the trays for the patio.
Can’t beat some relaxing gardening surrounded by the views and countryside.
Who Doesn't Love A Pub Lunch!
Residents recently enjoyed a day out shopping followed by a delicious pub lunch.
Residents were led by the care and activities team at the home to Waldron Community Market to purchase some fresh cheese and produce to enjoy later.
After a morning of shopping, it was off to the Green Man in Ringmer where everyone enjoyed a warm and tasty lunch and a glass of their favourite tipple.
Rikki, General Manager at Lydfords care home, said: “We are so lucky to have our own mini bus so we can go out every week and be involved in the local community. The residents really love going to different places and who doesn’t love a pub lunch.”
Spring Fair Fun At Lydfords
Staff, residents, relatives and the local community came together at Lydfords Care home to enjoy a Spring Fair that was held in the home’s grounds on 4th April.
Lydfords hosted a variety of activities throughout the afternoon, including a BBQ, tombola stall, games and an Easter Hunt, Classic Bike Display, fresh cakes and Music which were enjoyed by everyone who came to the event.
Staff at Lydfords made everyone feel welcome and were delighted to see different generations having fun together. Visitors enjoyed plenty of refreshments, such as burgers, hot dogs, cakes plus tea and coffee, prepared by the catering team, who were hard at work making sure that a great time was had by all – it really was a team effort!
Resident, Shirley, said, “I thoroughly enjoyed it. I was surrounded by lots of great people, and the refreshments kept flowing. The weather held out until we finished. Staff did a great job, not just on the day, but organising the event and getting everyone together.”
Rikki, General Manager at the home, said: “Staff at Lydfords are dedicated to making sure that the home is a hub of the local community, and this event, along with all their hard work, has definitely paid off. It was a resounding success!”

Congratulations to Sky for becoming February's Employee Of The Month!
Sky is our Care Community Lead and a valued member of the team.
Sky received the award for always going above and beyond within her role and for our residents. Sky also always show passion with everything she does and we all agree she deserves it!
