Activities at Lydfords Care Home

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Storytime at Lydfords Care Home

Here at Lydfords Care Home we're lucky enough to have visits every Friday from the children of the local school. Our residents look forward to spending time with the children while they read books, and the children love hearing our resident’s life stories.

First Birthday Celebrations

We celebrated our first anniversary in style. Staff, residents and guests commemorated this special occasion with live music in the lounge for all to listen and dance. Residents and guests enjoyed looking round at the local stall holders that came in for the afternoon.

The main event took place in the garden with the official opening of the home's new garden pavilion. A beautiful space within the grounds for residents to use all year round and a place where the local community can come to hold meetings. Lydfords very first resident, June, did the honour of giving a beautiful speech and cutting the ribbon.

A visit to the Village

Promoting independence is at the heart of the care we provide here at Lydfords. So when Mary said she wanted an afternoon out shopping, to have tea and cake in the village cafe and her hair done too. We couldn't wait to oblige. What a lovely afternoon she had.

Sheffield Park

Today has been a beautiful sunny day so some of Lydfords residents went on a trip in our Lydfords mini-bus to explore Sheffield Park. They had a lovely time in the sunshine visiting the grounds.

Carers Week 2022

Carers Week is an annual campaign to raise awareness of caring, highlight the challenges unpaid carers face and recognise the contribution they make to families and communities throughout the UK. It also helps people who don't think of themselves as having caring responsibilities to identify as carers and access much-needed support.

The campaign is brought to life by thousands of individuals and organisations who come together to provide support for carers, run activities, highlight the vital role carers play in our communities and draw attention to just how important caring is.

At Lydfords, all of of team members having a caring role, by assisting our residents, and making this care home, their home.

Queens Platinum Jubilee Celebrations

 HRH Queen Elizabeth's Jubilee

What a glorious day we all had here at Lydfords. Residents, relatives, staff and our local community all joined us to celebrate our Queen of England's platinum jubilee celebrations.

We opened up our beautiful gardens to host a jubilee picnic, the weather was perfect. But even with our happy picnic goers enjoying the grounds, we still had plenty of room for South Brockwells Farm mobile farm to pay us a visit. Lambs, goats, sheep and even a pony, a thoroughly enjoyable treat for everyone...... After all, its not often you get to share your picnic with a goat!

We also had the wonderful Gem Stillman - Vocalist entertaining the crowds with songs throughout the decades and the finale, last night at the proms which was performed by our GM Brendan.

We'd like to thank everyone who came and made this once in a lifetime celebration possible.
