Activities at Lethen Park Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Amanda McCarthy

Activities Coordinator

We all know that keeping active is important. We have created a wonderful culture within the home and we work together to give residents the best possible experience. We are here to ensure that residents enjoy an environment that is both stimulating and socially active. We ensure the team knows each residents' preferences, so that we can deliver a person-centered program of events and activities. Essential to our homely feel is the strong relationships of trust we build with residents and their families and friends

Life at Lethen Park Care Home

A Family Gathering

Thomas and his family enjoyed a beautiful fancy tea in the lounge. This was for no special occasion other than Love. Thomas wanted to do something nice for his family so we arranged a fancy tea. The Family really enjoyed this time together.

Simple games bring a lot of fun!

The Ladies in our memory lane community have been enjoying some new-year exercise. The ladies have really enjoyed throwing the ball to each other. This very simple ball game activity has brought Ethel, Betty, Jessie and Margaret so much joy, as well as being a good confidence builder, and a great gentle exercise for the body and mind.

Decorating for Burns Day

Residents spent time decorating the entrance for burns day. We used the Scotland Activity Book from Oomph on demand to help us think about what Tartan to select. We had a lot of fun doing this. Residents had a beautiful morning!

Church Service

Here at Lethen Park, we host a regular church service. All of our residents enjoy the service.

Portlethen Parish church attend the first Friday of the month to help residents with their spiritual needs.

Starlings virtual talk

Across our services our residents have enjoyed a wonderful live virtual talk about starlings, one of the UK’s most gregarious birds, hosted by Rachel Dowse from The Royal Parks London.

Rachel examined our long history with this bird and the importance of common species to our lives. Our residents had the opportunity to find out more about the great murmuration and why we need to pay special attention to these beauties before it's too late.

The virtual experience was truly enjoyed by all.

Christmas decorations

Staff and residents at Barchester’s Lethen Park care home, in portlethen  have been decking the halls, getting out the tinsel and unravelling the fairy lights, ready for a whole host of Christmas celebrations.

Lethen Park’s residents and staff have been busy creating lots of home-made bunting, garlands and wreaths to make the home as festive as can be.  The residents have also been crafting home-made decorations for the Christmas tree which they all helped to decorate, the tree is looking truly magnificent covered in beautiful Christmas lights and bows.
