"My dad has been in Lethen Park since the end of March 2023. I can honestly say I was a bit apprehensive at the start as I knew he wasn’t wanting to leave his house but after numerous falls it was a decision I had to make & thankfully I chose a home that I am very happy with! Dad went in for respite initially but once accessed there was no going home. The staff certainly look out for my dad & other residents & in light of a recent fall dad had (not at the care home ) they proved just how caring they are by being diligent & persistent with getting Dad the treatment that he needed! If it hadn’t been for them my dad would have still been waiting for a half hip operation as the hospital kept sending him back to home saying nothing was amiss. I can’t but thank them enough for their professionalism in the situation. Every member of staff seems to be happy in their job & they all work as a team from the manager down to the cleaning staff & it just makes for a very happy environment."

"Barchester Lethen Park Care Home are always attentive and caring towards my mum in memory lane, the activities girl ensures my mum is well cared for and always has lots to do. The new activity assistant is really compassionate to my mum's needs. The food is always to a high standard and also is the rooms. The staff have changed recently however I am very happy with this change and the manager is lovely. Lastly, the admin lady is just wonderful and always helps me when I call"

"From my first dealings with Lethen Park Care Home, I was impressed. One member of staff spent an hour showing us around, and we knew by the end of the hour that we would be happy to have Lethen Park as Grandma's new home. From then on, every member of staff has gone out of their way to welcome not just Grandma but all of us. I cannot praise the staff enough for the time and care they have given. As a family, we feel that we have got the lady we loved and knew back (or almost!), and Grandma herself is more settled and happy than we ever could have hoped for."

"My gran moved into Lethan Park recently, but the difference since she moved in has been unbelievable and so amazing to see! It is very clear that she is well cared for by the staff and thrives on the company of the other residents and the engaging activities that are provided by the staff. The communication, compassion and care that has been shown by the whole staff has made the transition into a home much easier for the whole family. Knowing my gran is well cared for and happy is all that we could wish for - thank you."

"Our mum recently had a fall in the home, and an ambulance had to be called. The nurse in charge called us right away so we could be with her while waiting for the ambulance. The staff were amazing with both us and Mum. They tried to keep her as comfortable as possible while dealing with all the other residents. Mum was shown respect and dignity throughout her ordeal. The nurse in charge was due to go off shift and on holiday but chose to stay with Mum until he had confirmation that she was going to be OK. All of the staff on duty that night were amazing."

"When I was told both my parents would have to move into a care home I was a bit apprehensive. I had never been inside a care home before, but my first visit to Lethen Park changed all that. My husband and I arranged a meeting with the manager who went through everything with us, explaining about life in a care home which was very helpful. We were then shown around the home by a member of staff who also let us view the rooms that were available. Two weeks later my parents moved into Lethen Park, which says it all really. Mum and Dad seem to have settled in fine, which I have to give the staff credit for. Every member of staff goes above and beyond to ensure my parents are happy and comfortable. I can now sleep at night knowing that they are safe and being well looked after. Thank you, Lethen Park."

"My mum has been in Lethan Park Care Home for 18 months and I can honestly say that she’s been extremely well cared for. The entrainment that is organised for them is incredible. The staff are really friendly but also very caring and patient. The food is also very good. I would thoroughly recommend it to everyone."

"My mum has been a resident for almost four years, she has a good friendship group with two other residents. My mum enjoys weekly clubs, including crafts and knitting and the nursery children. My mum's room is comfortable and I am always updated with all my mum's needs. The activities have improved this year and I am happy with my mum's weekly social interactions. There is a huge difference in staff, I have marked a five for the staff that have been here a long time, the new staff I would mark a three. I feel the rooms need a huge update and re-vamp, especially the bathroom."

"My wife has been a resident for five years past October, my wife is a well-loved resident and has settled in well, We have asked for a lock on my wife's door and this is in the pipeline. The activities girl has improved the home and the residents' day. I am happy to see the garden projects are back up and running and I look forward to eating fresh vegetables next year."

"My partner has been at Lethen Park for less than a month and has settled in well. He has formed bonds with staff and finds being assisted easy, comfortable and he is very content. My partner enjoys spending time with another resident and has formed a nice friendship with him. My partner has had a couple of issues with settling in such as being clean-shaven every day, however, this issue has been addressed. Nurses are always on hand and approachable, especially with updates. We are promoting my partner's mobility and he is getting stronger each day."

"I visited my mother-in-law here. I have to say without exception every single member of staff is warm welcoming and friendly. I feel She is well cared for. Her room is kept tidy and clean. The staff have definitely engaged with us as a family to try to help my Mother in law settle in and I feel they have done a great job. I am a nurse myself and I really am impressed with how lovely the staff are."

"My husband was a resident of the Memory Lane area of Lethem Park for 4 months. I lost him at the end of January and the comfort and dignity he and myself received was amazing. I cannot thank the staff enough for the care he received during his time there and especially his last very difficult days. Every member of staff needs a mention from cleaners, maintenance, cooking and care staff."

"My mum moved into Lethen Park on 10th March, so only a week prior to them locking down the facility due to COVID-19, so I was only able to visit on the day she moved in and a couple of days later. Mum seems to have settled well, and we have a weekly Skype call arranged by the staff which I always look forward to. The few visits that I have had to Lethen have been extremely positive - not only am I comfortable with the care provided to my mum, but they have been a great support to me too following the passing of my dad just a month prior to Mum moving in. The facilities are lovely and well maintained and I get great comfort knowing the staff there all care so much about the residents."

"My mum has been a resident in Lethen Park Care Home for just over 2 years. I cannot praise all of the staff enough, they are so caring and helpful. It’s a lovely bright care home with a nice atmosphere. During COVID it has been hard not to be able to see Mum but we have weekly Skypes and they keep my brother and I well informed of any changes with Mum. The carers speak to Mum just like she was their family and last year when my brother got married, a carer came to the wedding to look after Mum and everyone at the wedding commented on how fabulous she was with Mum. Also, a mention to the member of staff who has organised all the Skype calls, thank you so much and thanks to you all for doing such a fabulous job looking after our loved ones and keeping them safe during these difficult times."

"Since my dad went into Lethen Park, we have been delighted with the care he has received. After viewing quite a few homes, we knew that he would be very at home at Lethen Park and he settled in very well. Visiting is usually anytime and we always feel welcome. During the Covid-19 pandemic, they have done their best to keep relatives informed and have set up weekly Skype calls with residents so that family can keep in touch and see their loved one's faces. This has been invaluable and has meant peace of mind for us. The staff work so hard and it really is like being part of a big family."

"I have been impressed with the level of care my father has received since he moved in almost three years ago, however, the additional care and attention to his family's needs have been even more impressive since the home went into lockdown due to the COVID 19 outbreak. I am very pleased to get regular updates when I call and pleased that the staff take the time to make video calls each week. This has been a source of comfort at a difficult time. "My father has been a resident at Lethen Park for a while now. The staff are excellent at keeping him safe from the Covid-19. We get a FaceTime every week which, for all residents, is a great thing for the staff to do, especially as they have enough on their plates to do, but even before the Covid-19 outbreak, I find staff very friendly and caring, keeping residents in good spirits. A big thanks to all staff who do a great job under very difficult conditions."

"My mother has been a resident for over three years and in that time, I have witnessed nothing but excellent service, care and attention, from all staff to not only my mother, but to all other residents, when I have had the opportunity to visit her in the resident's lounge, in the dining room, at numerous organised events, or even as I pass by other resident's room, going to or from my visits. Even if my mother does not subsequently remember any of the events and activities that she has partaken in or simply watched, we, her family have and take great comfort in knowing and seeing that as much as possible is being done to make her life an enjoyable one. We are especially grateful at this current time, to still be able to see and converse with our mum via weekly FaceTime sessions. My mother has good and bad days, but I've yet to see any staff member having a bad day, they are always so friendly, enthusiastic and extremely caring to my mother and the other residents."

"Lethen Park Care Home provides exceptional care to my Mother who has Vascular Dementia. I am impressed by how the entire staff work so efficiently as a team in providing round the clock care necessary for my mother and other residents needs. The staff always communicate well with family showing compassion and caring. It appears evident that no matter what job position staff do, all are competent in providing resident centred care. I’m very happy that my mother is cared for in such a home-like setting."

"My dad went into Lethen Park at the start of March 2020 and was settling in well prior to Covid-19 lockdown. Thanks to the fantastic staff there, Dad continues to do well, weekly FaceTime with family cheers him up, along with news of the family at this uncertain time. He had started to socialise with the other residents and enjoying a game of dominoes and wee competitions they were having, which I am sure will be re-introduced before too long. Dad does miss the interaction with his friends he has already made there, but thanks to the girls, he does get a wee FaceTime chat when there is time to allow this, which cheers him up greatly. From the first time we viewed Lethen Park, we knew that was where we would like Dad to be. Everywhere was clean, well presented, staff friendly and chatty, the dining room had plenty of space for wheelchair users too. At this time, nothing is too much bother for the staff and I think this shows in the fact that to date, there has been no Covid-19 cases."

"My dad has been in Lethen Park for 3 years and after a slightly difficult start he has settled in well. The staff are friendly and helpful and during this difficult time with Covid 19, they have eased the loneliness by arranging FaceTime chats between me and dad. "Mum went into Lethen Park Care Home Aberdeen in August 2019 and I couldn't believe how quickly she settled in, but this was all due to wonderful staff that surrounded her with love and professionalism. Nothing ever seems to be a bother for the staff, they always seem to be happy at their job and give out good vibes to Mum and her family. It has been trying times during this last few months due to the COVID-19 but again the staff called me on a regular basis and then set up face time and often send me a photo/video of Mum to let me know she is safe and well. I couldn't ask for more. A huge thank you to everyone at Lethen Park Care Home Aberdeen, you are doing a grand job and really is appreciated."

"Very happy with the care provided for my mum. The home is in a nice setting and is bright and airy. The staff are friendly and caring, and especially in this Covid situation, do remarkably well to keep things as normal as possible. The entertainment lady helps my mum stay in touch with us via video calls. It's a pleasure to see her face light up when she sees her great-grandson on the screen. "My mother has been a resident for over 3 years now and has received excellent care and support through her onset of vascular dementia. She has a lovely room and ensuite shower room, which are personalised with some of her furniture, paintings, photographs etc. Throughout her deterioration, the staff have managed the changes with evermore support both mentally and physically. Lethen Park is always spotlessly clean and tidy. The atmosphere is always happy and chatty. The staff are always very friendly and helpful. The residents have a very good choice of meals, and their preferences are taken into consideration. The afternoon cuppa and cakes are always very popular. All of the residents are well looked after day and night. To date, Lethen Park staff and residents have been safe from Covid-19, due to the organisation and care of the staff, which has been greatly appreciated by many. Highly recommend Lethen Park."

"Lethen Park is a wonderful care home. From the day my mum arrived, she has been treated as a member of the family by all the staff dealing with her. It is clear to me that the ethos is that the staff don’t just care for their residents, they genuinely care about them. This creates a lovely atmosphere within the community which is evident as soon as you enter the premises. My mum settled in very quickly and was soon integrated into the social fabric. I have been very impressed by the high level of stimulating activity the residents are encouraged to engage in. Overall, the facilities in Lethen Park are excellent. My mum’s room is well proportioned and we were able to personalise it for her. My mum has thrived since she moved into Lethen Park. Thankfully, she had settled well prior to the COVID-19 lockdown. Given, the unprecedented challenges during this time, it has been a great comfort to me and our family knowing how well she is being cared for. We are extremely grateful for that."

"During the recent coved-19 epidemic, I have been very impressed with the methods being used by the staff at Lethan Park Care Home. The staff have been very helpful in keeping me informed with their procedures. I have curtailed my phone calls to the home as I realise that their workload has been greatly increased by the lack of visitors. I have been having weekly FaceTime meetings with my mother who has vascular dementia. She is looking extremely well, her nails painted, her hair a bit askew as no hairdresser visiting home. She is missing socialising and really doesn't understand the reason. I have found all the staff at the home, my mother has now been a resident for over a year, extremely helpful, caring and always have a smile. I think that all the staff from cleaner to matron have done a sterling job during this very tough lockdown. Truly dedicated to their jobs! I don't think that we can ever thank them enough. Many many thanks to you all."

"My Mother has Dementia and has been a resident since December 2017. I was very apprehensive of my mum going into a Care Home and cannot fault Lethen Park. Everyone at the Home is fantastic, they really care about the residents. There is a real sense of fun with lots of activities and generally an all-round environment of love and care. The Home has set up FaceTime meetings so my family and I can still see and communicate with my mum, which is fantastic. I would like to thank everyone working at the Home for their great work, enthusiasm and care."

"My wife was admitted into Lethen Park in October 2017 up to the present day and in that time has been well looked after. The staff from the management, catering, housekeeping, laundry, lifestyle coordinators and not least of all the angels of Lethen Park, the nurses and the carers all carry out their duties with care and compassion. And never more so in this unprecedented times. The staff have become the residents substitute family during this ongoing pandemic. I have nothing but praise for everyone within Lethen Park who are our local front line heroes in my opinion."

"My husband has been at Lethen Park for two and a half years due to having Early-onset Alzheimers. From the many nursing homes we viewed, it was an easy choice for him to move there, the team - both caring and office wise - are simply wonderful, so caring, professional, and they really understand Alzheimer's how it both affects the resident and also their family. Many of their team members have worked at Lethen for many years, which in itself speaks volumes. The whole family were made welcome and we were able to personalise his room, making it special for him. My husband immediately settled there, Lethen becoming his home, the quality of care is exceptional; personal care; nursing care; laundry; housekeeping. There is a plentiful supply of food; breakfast, lunch and dinner, with morning cuppas and afternoon coffees and cakes, plus supper. It is so hard letting your loved one move into residential care, however, Lethen makes the move so much easier."

"We are very happy with the care and support my dad is getting at Lethen Park. During the lockdown, we have been able to have weekly video call sessions with him where a staff member supports my dad to be able to see us on the screen. The staff are all very friendly and caring to not just the residents but also their families and are on hand to listen to any concerns or questions that we may have."

"My Father started in a residential care home. Unfortunately, after a stressful experience, we had to transfer to another home. Our first visit to Lethan Park we found the manager and admin staff very helpful and friendly. My Father has now settled down without any difficulties thanks to all the staff's caring, cheerfulness and support. I would have no problem at all in recommending Lethen Park to anyone."

"Overall my aunt is happy in Lethen Park, the staff are all lovely to her, even when they are extremely busy with residents who require a lot more care. She told me today (Sat 21/10/17) that is was the best ever afternoon she has had since moving to the home, the new activities leader has some excellent and fresh ideas to involve them in and she appreciates it all. Relatives and residents are made to feel very welcome to join in the activities, she is there for us, as well as residents, very welcoming, we know when we are not there she is occupied and joining in some activity. Overall we are happy with the home, the downside is the turnover of staff, hopefully, that might settle down soon, as they are a great team."

"My mother has been at Lethen Park for sixteen months and although it has taken a while for her to settle, I see a peacefulness that never existed when she was in her own home. Ideally, there should be more staff to give each service user the help they need, simple things like being taken to the toilet when they ask, without having to wait until there is enough staff to do so. More activities and stimulation would be a real benefit as would outings."

"My father settled in without any difficulties. I found the whole experience of putting my father into a care home very emotional. The staff were very supportive and I couldn't have got through without them. This covers the whole team, domestic, nursing, catering, manager etc. My father's needs are always taken care of with care and dignity. Staff make me feel welcome when I visit."

"The staff work extremely hard, it's not an easy job. The furnishings in the rooms are very basic considering it costs my mother £1500 a week. The armchairs in the common room are fabric which is a bad idea because some are urinated on. The staff do wash them (wipe them actually) but I think they should be covered in a waterproof material. New dining tables and chairs in the eating area are ideal."

"After having spent six months in a psychiatric hospital, my husband was discharged to Lethen Park in March 2017. The initial impression was one of "calm" after being in an environment of very sick people. Like everywhere else, a nursing home depends on caring staff. For the most part, Lethen Park has very caring staff working in very difficult circumstances. Staffing has been stretched during the holiday period and there are a lot of inexperienced staff under training. The priority for them must be kindness and care - this is far more than a job!! I am happy most of the time and if I have any problems I express them and they are rectified. The department could do with more space but residents seem content."

"Excellent care home. Staff are always friendly, smiling and very helpful. Sometimes I get the impression short staffed especially at weekends though. Mum has settled in well and lots of activities now. Only bad comment I would say is sometimes bathroom not cleaned properly i.e especially the floor but it could be it's cleaned in morning and accidents happen later which is no fault of the staff. Food seems good and varied and alternatives offered. Overall I highly recommend this care home and I think the staff are wonderful that I have met. They are happy and caring and seem to have a wonderful rapport with residents."

"My Mum has been in Barchester Lethen Park Care Home for a few years now and I have had no concerns about her care. The staff are friendly and very capable. My mum settled in right away and was aware of her surroundings before her dementia got too bad. Many of the staff are still there and have been for many years and know my Mum well. I was my Mum's main carer so I know I can visit her and come away knowing she is in good hands. Thank you all so much."

My daughter and I arranged to visit Lethen Park early in January this year, we received an extremely warm welcome from the Manager and their administrative assistant.

The general manager spent a great deal of time with us showing us around the home, answering all our questions and even mentioning points which we had not even thought of. We were very impressed with their style and manner and by the end of our meeting, my daughter and I had made up our minds that Lethen Park was the future Home for my husband.

We have found ALL the staff at Lethen Park to be approachable, pleasant, caring and always find the time to chat generally and about my husbands well being. I would most definitely recommend Lethen Park Care Home to any of my fellow Carers who I met through Alzheimer's Scotland,and indeed anyone who asked my opinion on Care Homes
