Activities at Lethen Park Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Amanda McCarthy

Activities Coordinator

We all know that keeping active is important. We have created a wonderful culture within the home and we work together to give residents the best possible experience. We are here to ensure that residents enjoy an environment that is both stimulating and socially active. We ensure the team knows each residents' preferences, so that we can deliver a person-centered program of events and activities. Essential to our homely feel is the strong relationships of trust we build with residents and their families and friends

Fish and Chip Fridays

What a brilliant way to start the weekend bu enjoying Fish and Chip Friday.

The staff at Lethen Park tonight treated all the residents to a chippy and it's safe to say it went down a treat. Jasmine one of our carers ensured all residents had a wonderful time, with old school baskets and 1960 music.

Music Through The Ages Virtual Tour

We had a brilliant time with curator Sarah Deters as she took us on a virtual ‘Music Through the Ages’ tour of St Cecilia’s Hall: Concert Room and Music Museum.

Our residents were thrilled to discover weird and wonderful musical instruments, hear their unusual sounds, and find out how instruments have changed over the last 500 years.

The virtual live event explored the world-renown collection of musical instruments on display at St Cecilia’s Hall, Scotland’s oldest concert hall.

A lovely time was had by all.

Kindness in the community

We would like to say a huge thank you to kind-hearted locals who have gifted the home a reborn doll and a beautiful silver cross pram for residents to enjoy. The baby boy doll has been named Matthew by residents who love nothing better than to take him for a stroll in his pram.

The doll was very kindly donated by Hazel Brown, a friend of a resident at Lethen Park and the pram was given to the home by local lady, Pauline Fazackerley, in response to post on Facebook from the home asking for a second hand pram.

Reborn dolls are incredibly life-like and are designed to help people living with dementia or those who have suffered the loss of a child.  Residents at Lethen Park have been taking turns to walk Matthew in his new pram and to sit with him and care for him.

Jigsaw Club at Lethen Park

We had a wonderful morning at our Jigsaw club.

We had planned to be in the garden planting our vegetables however the rain beat us too it.

Resident, Sheila suggested we do a puzzle and have a cuppa instead and what a great idea that was!

Opera Performance

Our homes had a fabulous time with the talented soprano Astrid Joos from Street Theatre.  Astrid spoke about a selection of famous operas and our residents were treated to performances of wonderful arias from operas well-known to all, such as ‘Giuditta’, ‘Don Giovanni’ and ‘Le Nozze di Figaro’.

It was a lovely experience, truly enjoyed by all.
