Activities at Lawton Rise Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Kate Franks

Activities Coordinator

Hi, my name is Kate Franks and I have returned to Lawton Rise August 2023 to work as an Activities Coordinator.  I started my career working as a Legal Secretary in the Conveyancing department before leaving to commence employment with the Health Authority as a Medical Secretary.

After having my two children I retrained to work as a Teaching Assistant in a Primary School for ten years and studied for a Higher Level Teaching Assistance qualification enabling to progress my career.

Due to illness within my family I needed to focus on a role closer to home but I am delighted to be able to return to the home and it feels like I have never been away. The staff and residents are so welcoming and helpful and I am really pleased that I have returned.

Santa pays a visit

Our residents have thoroughly enjoyed their visit from Santa today! They have all being informed by the man himself that they are on the good list this year and have therefor received a gift, enjoyed by all. It has truly sprinkled more Christmas spirit throughout the home. I think we are just about ready for the big day.

Decorating the cake

This weekend we made and decorated our Christmas cakes. We all enjoyed the buttercream and icing as we were working! We can't wait to cut in the cakes for a slice with a refreshing cup of tea. Merry Christmas from us all at Lawton Rise.

Signed, sealed and delivered!

Signed, Sealed & Delivered,  What a day we have had! Our residents have created their own lists for the big red man! We have made our own “Santa Postbox” and posted our letters in the hope we get what we have wished for!

Magic of the Nutcracker

We experienced the magic of the Nutcracker with a special interactive workshop led by English National Ballet Associate Artists.

Our residents were able to take a magical journey thorough Edwardian London and to learn more about the enchanted Nutcracker characters: Clara, the Mouse King, and her valiant Nutcracker doll.   The session included a chair-based dance workshop, clips of the ballet on stage and a Christmas carol sing-along, truly enjoyed by all.
