Activities at Kingsland House Care Home

Kingsland House have a variety of activities that our residents help us choose. Celebrating Life in our home is jovial and fun and from our weekly delivered activity sheet, our residents can chose exactly what they want to join in with.

Our activities range from exercise classes, gardening, arts and crafts, games to food-fun clubs. We also offer our in house church services, our own home cinema, our mobile pub - The Kingsland Tavern, visiting Pat Dogs, musical entertainers, minibus outings, theme days and birthday celebrations. For those residents being nursed in their rooms we have one to one activities sessions.

At Kingsland House we believe that activities are hugely important to stimulate and uplift, and getting to know our residents interests and lifestyle choices assist our activities team in creating events and activities to suit their expressed wishes and capabilities. We also encourage our residents' families and friends to join in with as much as they can to make Kingsland House a loving family atmosphere.

Mo Clark

Activities coordinator

I've been at Kingsland House as the Activities  Coordinator since April 2024 having previously worked in a similar role since 2020.

My previous experience has been in working as a carer and air bnb host,   corporate finance and project management for many years.  This is my most rewarding role to date and I am passionate about working with the elderly.

I love the variety of each day, getting to know and share in the lives of our residents.  The commitment and support of Barchester enables us to deliver activities and outings that go above and beyond to support and celebrate life which makes the difference to our residents wellbeing and happiness.

Activities and Events Partnerships

As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

Dunelm Delivering Joy

We had the delightful pleasure of a visit from the staff from Dunelm and their 'delivering joy' gifts to our residents and home. Their kindness and generosity will ensure that everyone is given a gift for Christmas Day! Thank you Dunelm Shoreham.

Employee of the month Louise

Please see our employee of the month Louise.... Louise was nominated by her fellow staff members and residents of Kingsland House.‘Louise is extremely hard working and is amazing to work with. She treats everyone with kindness and respect.’ a staff member wrote. ‘Louise is one of the best administrators ever and always goes above and beyond’ from one of our lovely residents here at Kingsland House. Louise has only been here since May 2024 but she already has made such an impact and difference throughout the home. Thank you Louise

Christmas Cake Decorating

Christmas cake decorating was the order of the day at Kingsland House with the lovely Lorraine who came in to help us. We worked hard at rolling out, cutting and baking gingerbread figures and houses, as well as icing for holly leaves and getting marzipan on the cake.  We’re looking forward to our final session bringing it all together for the finishing touches ready for the residents Barchester cake competition!

Christmas Decoration making

We had a wonderfully creative afternoon with Ellen one of our nurses who helped us make some lovely tree decorations with crocheted trees, paper and lots of sparkles.  We had a great time and looking forward to putting up all our trees this week to add these creations.

Aimee the singer

We were delighted to have the lovely singer Aimee visit us here at Kingsland House. Aimee sang some lovely lively well-known songs from the 80’s and with her bubbly personality had the residents all smiling, clapping and dancing along.

Sing & Share

We started early with Christmas songs at Kingsland House and was joined by Lynda and the sing & share choir group yesterday!  The sing & share group's enthusiasm was infectious and everyone joined in with the choir, singing and tapping our feet! Thank you Lynda and everyone for a beautiful afternoon
