Activities at Kings Park Care Home

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Angela Cawsey

Activities Lead

Hello,  I am Angela the Activities Lead.

I am delighted to be part of the team at Kings Park after a transferring from a sister home in Salisbury, following my relocation to this area.

With experience in this role, my passion is bringing joy to our residents, whether on a one-to-one basis or in groups. I love getting to know each resident and incorporating their interests into engaging, meaningful activities and events that nurture the mind, body and spirit to enhance their well-being and life enrichment at our home. Making people smile is what I do best!

During lockdown, I ran daily Zoom sessions for well-being, including bingo and quizzes. When my children were young I volunteered as a helper at Boys Brigade and St John's Ambulance which was very rewarding. I love being a Grandma, music, crafts, the outdoors and animals - I have just started a new hobby of wild swimming with friends.

Activities and Events Partnerships

As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

Word Game Wonders...

The residents here at Kings Park, love nothing more than an afternoon get together over a word game and this recently, that's exactly what they did...

The heat was on as they individually battled it out to gain the Kings Park Scrabble Champion and there was a lot of pondering faces amongst everyone as they weighed up their options on the Scrabble board.

WHO WAS THE WINNER?!' We hear you cry!

Well we are very pleased to announce that this week, it was the lovely, Christine.

Congratulations Christine...But can you take the title next time and do the DOUBLE?

We shall see!

Congratulations Abbie!

We recently celebrated a very chocolately win with one young, local community member...

You may recall our recent Barchester Bunny hunt, where our residents joined forces with local shops and businesses, hiding numbered bunnies for local children to try and find in the run up to Easter.

We had a LOT of keen bunny hunters this year, who we would like to thank for taking part. We hope you had lots of fun trying to find all the bunnies?

But, there can only be one overall winner and with all the entry forms handed in, all the names were placed into a hat and a name drawn for the big prize.

We are now very excited to announce that the overall Barchester Bunny Hunt winner for 2024 is... [DRUM ROLL PLEASE]: -

ABBIE!

HUGE CONGRATULATIONS to you, Abbie, and all at Kings Park would like to thank you for taking part and we hope very much that you enjoyed your prize!

A special thank you to Abbie and her family for allowing us to share this lovely photo of her collecting her prize.

Strictly Ain't Got Nothing on us!

Residents here at Kings Park recently enjoyed another visit from the ever popular Andy Hague on his wonderful accordion...

Everyone gathered up in our lovely spacious Memory Lane lounge for another musically spectacular afternoon, and it wasn't long before soon everyone was up and in the mood for dancing!

BBC Strictly Come Dancing, should you be in need for some new participants for your next series, then look no further, as we would love to get involved - Everyone here at Kings Park loves to move and shake and they always do us proud - We're just saying...

Thank you again, Andy, for another wonderful afternoon full of fun and joy here in our home.

Their Wish, is Our Command!

Residents had mentioned a little while ago how much they could do with a little extra patio space for their sunshine gatherings in the warmer weather - Let's face it, when the sun has got his hat on, the residents love to enjoy the sun trap that is our beautiful garden...

Their wish, was our command!

The idea being, that a row of hedge between two of the patio doors from our dining room, was to be removed and planted elsewhere in our gardens, to make way for two rows of extra patio slabs, to vastly increase the space for tables and chairs.

Our residents all watched on in awe as the Maintenance team got down to work, digging, mixing and laying slabs down.

The end is almost in sight and we are hoping to properly christen our new patio in the next month or so, with a lovely soiree to celebrate - Watch this space!

HUGE THANK YOUS go to those involved in achieving what the residents wanted for their garden - They are already very pleased and very much look forward to a little sun worshipping (when it finally decides to come out, that is!).

Teas for Two...Plus a Few More!

Recently, residents gathered together in the Orangery area of our home for a wonderful afternoon tea...

It was so lovely to see so many of them all coming together, just because they could!

There was much chatter, lots of delicious cakes to eat and lots of cups of tea poured.

It was so lovely to see so many social bunnies enjoying their time together, along with one or two family members also, who joined in too.

Just one of many lovely afternoons full of fun and smiles here at Kings Park.

Why not come along and join us next time?
