Activities at Kings Park Care Home
Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Angela Cawsey
Hello, I am Angela the Activities Lead.
I am delighted to be part of the team at Kings Park after a transferring from a sister home in Salisbury, following my relocation to this area.
With experience in this role, my passion is bringing joy to our residents, whether on a one-to-one basis or in groups. I love getting to know each resident and incorporating their interests into engaging, meaningful activities and events that nurture the mind, body and spirit to enhance their well-being and life enrichment at our home. Making people smile is what I do best!
During lockdown, I ran daily Zoom sessions for well-being, including bingo and quizzes. When my children were young I volunteered as a helper at Boys Brigade and St John's Ambulance which was very rewarding. I love being a Grandma, music, crafts, the outdoors and animals - I have just started a new hobby of wild swimming with friends.
Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

Cadbury's Chocolate - LIVE Event!
Did you know that sensory activities are great for stimulating our brains and that for those living with dementia, these kind of activities can be utilised to help induce a sense of joy and calmness, as well as helping to reduce anxiety?
So recently we had a wonderful time joining Cadbury for an interactive virtual talk on their fascinating 200-year history.
Our residents learnt interesting facts about the chocolate giant, shared memories, and reminisced about their favourite sweet treats.
It was a heart-warming experience filled with laughter, nostalgia, and plenty of chocolatey goodness, with lots of delicious chocolate for everyone to try!
Thank you Cadbury UK & Barchester Healthcare for this wonderful afternoon of yummy reminiscence - WHICH WE LOVED!!!!

Seaside Memories...
Reminiscence is something that everyone here in our care truly enjoys, especially those of our residents who may be living with dementia...
Remembering and chatting about those memories which we all hold dear, often bring the residents together (usually over a nice cup of tea & a piece of delicious cake!), to share their thoughts and special moments.
Up on our Memory Lane floor, tapping into these sometimes forgotten treasured memories, can often bring so much joy to the individuals we care for and sometimes it's the little things which enable them to remember these wonderful thoughts and feelings.
Whether it's a picture and item, a song or a phrase, these things can often unlock something lovely.
With that in mind, our Activities Lead, Claudia, has put together a lovely seaside reminiscence rummage box to encourage the residents to chat and share thoughts and feelings.
If you would like to enjoy the rummage box with a loved one, please chat to our Activities team who can assist with this.

V.E. Day Celebrations!
At Kings Park recently, we celebrated what would have been the 79th anniversary of the Victory in Europe celebrations...
Many of our residents have spent time sharing memories of this epic day in history, when Europe celebrated the end of world war II.
They talked of street parties and rejoicing, singing & dancing and the coming together as a nation as everyone; far and wide, breathed a huge sigh of relief at the end of this dark, dark period in our past.
During the afternoon on Tuesday 8th May, our residents rejoiced once more, but this time to the music of the returning Neil Wookey, who was back again to perform by popular demand!
The patio party that ensued, had residents singing and waving their union jacks in celebration of this momentous anniversary.
During the evening, residents also watched the film: A Royal Night Out, which tells the true tale of the Princesses Elizabeth & Margaret, who for one night only, escaped the palace for an evening of VE celebrations with the London public.
Overall it's been so much fun and our residents have thoroughly enjoyed themselves - Thank you again, Neil, for a wonderful musical performance!

The BIG Barchester Quiz
Last week, residents gathered together in our top floor lounge for a very special interactive afternoon...
All the Barchester homes up and down the UK, all came together via Zoom for a special inter-home quiz afternoon.
Residents were really put through their paces as they fought to get the right answers.
Everyone involved really got stuck in and we will find out next week who the overall winners are.
(We do think we did pretty well though, even if we do say so ourselves!)
Thank you Barchester Healthcare for hosting such a fun and brain exercising afternoon.

We Love, LOVE!
We were very excited to recently help one of our many couples here in the home, celebrate their 63rd wedding anniversary...
The absolutely fabulous Peter & Valerie, who spent a quiet afternoon with their lovely daughter, were delighted to receive a card and a rather delicious, home baked cake, courtesy of our lovely Chef, Wyn.
Here is a lovely moment captured with some of our team here in the home, wishing them both well.
Pete & Valerie - BIG CONGRATULATIONS to you both and here's to many more!

If You Can't Stand the Heat...
One of our wonderful carers, Emma and her amazing side kick, Claudia (Activities Lead) recently rolled their sleeves and rallied our residents to get busy cooking up some delicious smelling savouries in our Memory Lane dining room recently...
Residents got stuck in mixing and rolling before baking sausage rolls, scotch eggs and cheese swirls!
Once these mouth-watering treats were out of the oven, everyone sat around the table for a nibble or two over some very well-deserved cups of tea.
All of the residents were brilliant, helping each other on this culinary journey of deliciousness!
Emma, Claudia and their Kings Park Soux chefs have done themselves proud!
WELL DONE EVERYONE!
