Activities at Kings Park Care Home
Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Read our brochure ‘Life-enriching activities’ for more information about life in our care homes.

Angela Cawsey
Activities Lead
Hello, I am Angela the Activities Lead.
I am delighted to be part of the team at Kings Park after a transferring from a sister home in Salisbury, following my relocation to this area.
With experience in this role, my passion is bringing joy to our residents, whether on a one-to-one basis or in groups. I love getting to know each resident and incorporating their interests into engaging, meaningful activities and events that nurture the mind, body and spirit to enhance their well-being and life enrichment at our home. Making people smile is what I do best!
During lockdown, I ran daily Zoom sessions for well-being, including bingo and quizzes. When my children were young I volunteered as a helper at Boys Brigade and St John's Ambulance which was very rewarding. I love being a Grandma, music, crafts, the outdoors and animals - I have just started a new hobby of wild swimming with friends.
Celebrating life at Kings Park Care Home
Good luck to the Lionesses!
We’re gathered and watching with bated breath here at Kings Park Care Home—cheering you on every step of the way! Let’s bring it home!
Wishing Roadie a Happy Retirement!
We said a very special goodbye and happy retirement to our much-loved pet therapy dog, Roadie. For the past few years, Roadie and his lovely owner Terry have visited our residents regularly bringing comfort, joy and always with a wagging tail.
It was an emotional send-off, with everyone gathering to say thank you. Eric, was especially touched, he’s been saving a sausage every Tuesday just for Roadie!
As a small token of our gratitude, Roadie received some tasty treats and a gift voucher, though no present could ever match what he’s given us.
Thank you, Terry, for your kindness and dedication. And Roadie, enjoy your well-earned retirement! You’ll always have a special place in our hearts.
Live Entertainment at Kings Park
We had a great afternoon with the return of Nigel Revill - Lone Reveller Music, who came in to entertain us. His performance went down a treat and there was plenty of singing along, a lot of dancing and a lovely atmosphere throughout.
Always a pleasure to have him back and look forward to the next time!
We’ve had a busy and meaningful day at Kings Park today!
We started with Pippa’s Exercise to Music – a fun and energising way to kick off the morning. Then Neil Wookie joined us with a great set of 50s and 60s favourites – plenty of toe-tapping and singing along.
At lunchtime, we welcomed the local community for our Don’t Dine Alone event – a chance to share good food and company
This afternoon’s Sherry Social marked Nelson Mandela Day. We got creative with painting, and Audrey read out some of Mandela’s story. It was especially touching for one of our residents, originally from Cape Town.

A Special Afternoon Tea
We recently received this lovely photo from Peter and Sally Rufus from Helpful Hounds Assistance Dogs They were the lucky winners of our Easter Hamper competition which included an afternoon Tea voucher at The Captains Club, Christchurch.
Peter said “What a great treat for the afternoon of my Birthday, Afternoon Tea at The Captains Club, with Sally. All courtesy of a raffle prize from Barchester, Kings Park Care Home. I have no need to say how great the tea was. It can be seen on the photo. And what a location!”
We are so pleased you had a lovely birthday afternoon and thank you for sending us your photo in.
There’s something truly special about our Memory Lane art club
It’s a lovely way for residents to get creative and enjoy a quiet moment. We keep creative materials available all day, but there’s something extra special about coming together in the club for a relaxing and joyful session like this
Another cracking afternoon out on the water with a boat trip around Poole Harbour!
The sunshine’s been working overtime lately, giving us perfect sailing weather — calm water, blue skies and plenty of happy faces. We even got to take the wheel for a bit!

Fire Prevention Talk
We recently welcomed Andrew to the home from Surrey fire services Andrew visited Kings Park to give our residents a talk about fire safety. The residents that attended found Andrew to be very informative and really enjoyed the talk. Thank you Andrew for visiting the home in your spare time off duty.
‘1940’s Make Do and Mend’ collection talk
We recently welcomed Sandra from Charmworth Miniatures for her fascinating ‘1940’s Make Do and Mend’ collection talk.
Residents loved the chance to handle fabrics from the era and explore Sandra’s beautifully detailed miniature mannequins, dressed in authentic vintage styles. The session sparked lots of reminiscing about clothes they, or their loved ones once wore.
There was even a glimpse of a 1950s looking dress but that was made from a modern fabric in a vintage design from Sandra’s earlier collection. Residents can’t wait to see her 1950s collection!
Sandra started making bridal miniatures and then moved onto to make jewellery stands and thread spool mannequins using modern fabrics before settling on creating the vintage collections that she now brings around care settings today!
