Activities at Kings Park Care Home
Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Angela Cawsey
Hello, I am Angela the Activities Lead.
I am delighted to be part of the team at Kings Park after a transferring from a sister home in Salisbury, following my relocation to this area.
With experience in this role, my passion is bringing joy to our residents, whether on a one-to-one basis or in groups. I love getting to know each resident and incorporating their interests into engaging, meaningful activities and events that nurture the mind, body and spirit to enhance their well-being and life enrichment at our home. Making people smile is what I do best!
During lockdown, I ran daily Zoom sessions for well-being, including bingo and quizzes. When my children were young I volunteered as a helper at Boys Brigade and St John's Ambulance which was very rewarding. I love being a Grandma, music, crafts, the outdoors and animals - I have just started a new hobby of wild swimming with friends.
Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

A Solo Serenade...
Residents recently welcomed the ever entertaining Tony Edwards to their home for a wonderful afternoon of old-time tunes...
A gentle serenade was just the ticket, as residents enjoyed his rendition of 'I Left My Heart in San Francisco', much to everyone's pleasure.
Thank you Tony for another wonderful session, which they all seemed to benefit from.

Historic Ferndown
Residents recently thoroughly enjoyed themselves during a special event we laid on for them...
Roping in a little help from our friends from the local U3A History Group in the form of the lovely Val & Kay as our guest speakers, we invited along other guests, including, Tony Cordery - The new Mayor of Ferndown also, laying on a ploughman's-style supper with wine, followed by a wonderful talk about the history of the local area.
We discovered there was an old WWII bunker and that Ferndown even had it's own zoo, with lions, silver foxes and monkeys!
Everyone in attendance had a wonderful time and one of our residents, Richard, even gave a small speech of thanks for all the efforts made by the team here for such a lovely evening for everyone.
Let's do it again soon!

Looking Back...
We thought we'd take a moment to look back at some of the lovely things we have done in the past few months here in the home...
Our residents have so much fun, both in and out of the home and often in the company of some of our wonderful community.
From our links with local schools, such as Ferndown Upper School, Ferndown Middle School & Ferndown First School, with their volunteering, reading buddies and even special birthday surprises, these links are so appreciated by our residents.
We have some wonderful entertainers, who regularly brighten the home with their music, some fabulous bus trips out and about, and not forgetting the life and soul that is our Kings Kids mother & baby group - Their joy is infectious here at Kings Park.
Why not stop by and see for yourself?

Day Trippers!
What a fun day was spent out of the home recently...
Some of our wonderful residents got the chance to spend a day exploring Poole Park recently and despite the overcast weather, they enjoyed every moment.
After a lovely journey, everyone was able to stretch their legs and take in the fresh air, whilst enjoying the goings on in the area.
A lovely walk, then ended at the cafe for a well earned cup of tea and slice of cake.
Hats off to the wonderful driver, Claudia, for arranging the trip, which was clearly appreciated!
Just one of the many fun days out that we offer our residents.

Keeping Fit & Able
As William Shakespeare once said: 'Our bodies are our gardens - Our wills are our gardeners.'
With that in mind, our Activities Lead, Claudia, was ensuring that some of our residents were giving it their all at the latest exercise class here at Kings Park.
And exercise they did!
Residents were really enjoying getting into the swing of things as they all stretched, bent, waved and gave their bodies a really great work out to get them all motivated for the day ahead.
If we don't use it, we lose it, and by the looks of things, these lovely folk are definitely using it!
Well done everyone for another great workout.

Down the Pub!
Some of our wonderful gentleman residents really let their hair down recently, as they enjoyed an afternoon 'down their local'...
The pub in questions for our lovely gents, was the fabulous makeshift 'Kings Arms' - See what we did there?
Whilst enjoying a little drink and some pub nibbles, they then challenged each other to a mini game of pool!
