Activities at Kings Park Care Home

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Angela Cawsey

Activities Lead

Hello,  I am Angela the Activities Lead.

I am delighted to be part of the team at Kings Park after a transferring from a sister home in Salisbury, following my relocation to this area.

With experience in this role, my passion is bringing joy to our residents, whether on a one-to-one basis or in groups. I love getting to know each resident and incorporating their interests into engaging, meaningful activities and events that nurture the mind, body and spirit to enhance their well-being and life enrichment at our home. Making people smile is what I do best!

During lockdown, I ran daily Zoom sessions for well-being, including bingo and quizzes. When my children were young I volunteered as a helper at Boys Brigade and St John's Ambulance which was very rewarding. I love being a Grandma, music, crafts, the outdoors and animals - I have just started a new hobby of wild swimming with friends.

Activities and Events Partnerships

As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

NEW Creative Happiness Club Launches!

We recently saw the launch of the wonderful new arts & crafts club here at Kings Park; The Creative Happiness Club...

We welcomed the wonderfully creative, Eleanor Green, along with some lovely local community members, who all came along for the first time, to chat, make new friends and spend an afternoon learning new artistic techniques and skills, before trying things for themselves.

Some came for the company, some to do some adult colouring or puzzles and others really got stuck in with the arts & crafts on offer - Others simply watched on in amazement at what was being done by others.

There were many of our residents in attendance too, and it was lovely to see everyone busily chatting and getting to know one another and also offering each other lots of help and support whenever they could.

To celebrate this creative coming together of a brand new group, there was also a delicious cake and lots of tea & coffee too.

If you would like to join us for the next Creative Happiness group, you would be very welcome indeed AND it's FREE!!!!

EVERY MONDAY FROM 2PM - 4PM AT KINGS PARK

Incredible Women!

To celebrate international women's day, our residents & staff all got involved in discussing the inspirational women in their lives...

Many said relatives or close family members, whilst others went broader, with famous women from recent history and beyond!

Take a look at each of the photos and see who has inspired everyone here at Kings Park - Who is your inspirational woman?

World Book Day Wonders!

On world book day many of the staff were in awe as they spotted many lovely costumes of the children on the school run as they made their way into Kings Park this morning.

There was Dennis the Menace, and countless kids dressed as Harry Potter, eager to get into school and show off their costumes - It was a lovely sight to see!

That being said, here at Kings Park today the residents didn't miss out either, as they welcomed some very special visitors into our home this morning...

Our weekly mother & toddler group, Kings Kids, also delighted many of the residents at their session today as they all dressed up as their favourite characters from books!

We had a fireman Sam, PC Plod, a fairy, a tiger and LOTS of lovely characters from Disney's Frozen too.

The residents have LOVED seeing so many of them dressed up for the occasion and it has certainly made everyone smile today!

What was your favourite childhood book?

A Lovely Bus Trip

Residents truly love nothing more that getting out and about in our beautiful county of Dorset, with so many places to go and lovely things to see...

Rather annoyingly, when our intrepid explorers went out last week, the weather was not the greatest, but that didn't deter them!

They still enjoyed the change of scene and the view from the bus windows, despite the rather soggy weather.

Waiting at the end of their journey, was a fabulous tea room and shop to explore at Compton Acres, where everyone enjoyed some delicious cake and a lovely, well-deserved cuppa.

When you live in Great Britain, it's amazing how we never let a little thing, like a spot of rain, stop us from having a wonderful day!

Andy the Accordion Man...

Music is such a great way to bring people together and we have proof!

The very wonderful and talented, Andy, recently paid us a visit here at Kings Park and not only did all the residents all join together to listen in appreciation to his musical stylings, but several family members also came along and joined us too.

Playing many well known and well-loved tunes from times gone by, there was singing and dancing aplenty up in the Memory Lane lounge where everyone had gathered.

Such a fabulous time was had by all.

THANK YOU, ANDY - We hope to see you again very soon.

Bee Chumley Sings...

The ever fabulous Bee Chumley Vocalist was back in action at the home recently, donning yet another of her many wonderful dresses as she entertained...

With her new-look floral microphone stand (which impressed many of our residents), Bee sang for many of our residents who had gathered together in our orangery area to listen with fascination as she sang some of their favourite songs from yesteryear.

THANK YOU, Bee, for another wonderful morning of music & song.
