Activities at Hugh Myddelton House Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Gunel Bayramova

Activities Coordinator

Hello my name is Gunel and I joined Barchester team 2020 promoted to Activities Coordinator in November 2022

I love spending time with the residents and getting to know them on personal level, this helps me to support residents to participate and enjoy all the activities in the home. I am really enjoying my role as an Activities Co-Ordinator at Hugh Myddelton House and look forward to meeting you soon.

Fab Boys Duo

Fab Boys Duo

We had the lovely band ‘Fab Boys Duo’ join us recently, who performed some '60s rock 'n' roll music, much to the delight of residents.

Keeping Fit

Keeping Fit

Here at Hugh Myddelton House, we like to keep moving; Dee and Sonia join us regularly to host Zumba classes, which everyone enjoys.

Live Entertainment

Live Entertainment

We had the pleasure recently of welcoming Chirag into Hugh Myddelton to soothe our ears with wonderful nostalgic music. We had an hour of soul, jazz and fun for all in the main dining room, which we had transformed into a mini theatre for the day!

Open Day

We love music and performers, so it was only natural to invite one of our favourite musicians for our open day on 21st April, who played the saxophone for residents and guests.

Here, we believe in music as a form of therapy, as it encourages movement, increases social activity and reduces stress.

The incomparable Sandra Grant came and wowed us as she always does whilst we sat back in our beautiful garden enjoying a lovely open day.

Creative Minds

Here at Hugh Myddelton House, we encourage residents to get involved in our Creative Minds sessions.

Creative Minds is a therapeutic art group that helps with cognitive impairment and it can also be adapted for those with physical disabilities. Research shows that it is beneficial for stress management, anxiety and improving general well-being.

Residents are always proud of their work and can even enjoy a cup of tea and biscuits whilst painting.

Watch out for our upcoming art exhibition for our budding artists!

Creative Minds takes place every other week on Thursday.
