Activities at Hugh Myddelton House Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Gunel Bayramova

Activities Coordinator

Hello my name is Gunel and I joined Barchester team 2020 promoted to Activities Coordinator in November 2022

I love spending time with the residents and getting to know them on personal level, this helps me to support residents to participate and enjoy all the activities in the home. I am really enjoying my role as an Activities Co-Ordinator at Hugh Myddelton House and look forward to meeting you soon.

World Alzheimers Day Tea Party

We had a wonderful tea party with delicious white chocolate and strawberry cake, reminiscing with residents about parties in the past and how we all love to enjoy cake!

Three worthy winners in our photo competition

‘Funny’ is the winner of the unusual pet prize, congratulations Saina from Walker Primary School. Owner Max’s dog ‘Duke Blue’ was the residents’ favourite – what amazing ears! Alex and Mary are the proud owners of ‘Missy’ our cat winner, in her photo she made everyone smile as she was waiting for a tummy tickle. Thank you to everyone who sent in entries, residents really enjoyed their role as judges

Our 'resident' judges had plenty to choose from!

We had an amazing response to our pet photo competition, residents had so many to choose from it was difficult to pick 3 winners! Thank you to everyone for sending in such lovely entries and making it such a great morning activity for our residents

Mice and Cheese Game!

We enjoyed a new game in the lounge today, with a huge cheese and cloth bags shaped as mice to be thrown into the pockets of the cheese. Residents and staff all had fun throwing to get the highest score - Alison's attempt was poor, twice she completely missed the cheese much to the amusement of Nicky who was far more successful

BIG thank you for Iuliana from our residents and relatives

Iuliana has received lovely comments from families for her help with the garden visits to see their loved ones, her calm and helpful manner has been so appreciated during those extremely hot afternoons and also during the downpours this week! One family took time to complete a carehome.co.uk review for the home and gave her 5*!

Well done Iuliana - thank you for your passion in going the extra mile for residents

Our Very Own Balloon Festival!

This weekend is traditionally the International Bristol Balloon Festival with hundreds of colourful balloons taking off into the skies around the city.

Many of our residents have memories of balloon games with their children and grandchildren, and also some actual flights in hot air balloons in wicker baskets!

We celebrated with our very own games on Friday with everyone holding on to make the balloons bounce and fly to the ceiling - Up up and away
