Activities at Hollyfields Care Home
Our Activities programme is formulated using resident requests and feedback from resident meetings. Residents are involved in planning the programme with things they they would like to do throughout the year. There is a mixture of activities that take place including both group and 1-1 engagement. Residents at Hollyfields particularly enjoy movement to music activities enabling them to increase their level of physical abilities and have fun at the same time, whilst others enjoy musical singalongs and food based activities throughout the week.
We have a mini bus that enables us to reconnect our residents with their community in ways that suite themselves as individuals. This can be achieved by visiting local farms, Georgian towns, local attractions and even the local public house for lunch with friends. Hollyfields have a great relationship with their local community and have visits from local organisations such as The Wyre Community Land Trust and are currently undertaking a 12 week funded project from Arts Etc. Residents at Hollyfields enjoy Pet Therapy visits from their pet rabbit 'Thumper' and like to help clean and feed him daily. Relatives can be encouraged to join us for activities and again are very supportive with delivering theme days and fundraising events within the home.

Kaylee White
Hi, my name is Kaylee and I joined the Hollyfields care team in February 2021. I love getting to know our residents and I'm extremely passionate about their continued wellbeing and life enrichment through tailored activities. I became part of the Activities team to develop more in this area and expand the type of fulfilling activities and events we provide.
Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

World Kindness Day Surprise!
On World Kindness Day Hollyfields Care Home were lucky enough to have the lovely singing entertainer; Darcie join us for a show courtesy of the Wolverhampton Grand!
Darcie has been to us before and our residents love her. She was non-stop singing for an hour, with songs through the decades that got our residents up and dancing, particularly to a bit of rock and roll. We can't thank you enough Wolverhampton Grand for this special surprise, we all had a wonderful morning.

Schools Moving Performance
Today the wonderful children from Franche Community Primary School joined us as we paid our respects to our fallen soldiers. It was an absolute privilege to welcome two groups of students, each giving us a very special performance.
Proving you're never too old to learn something new, the pupils provided many facts about the war years during each show they read poetry, gave informative talks and sang beautiful memory provoking songs to commemorate all those who fought for us.
Our residents and staff shed some tears, as we talked about what 11:11 means to us.
Thank you Franche Community Primary School for stopping by, you're a credit to the local community.

Rekindling Friendships
This week I had the pleasure of escorting one of our residents to her old church.
Mary was apart of so many groups and had a lot of friends. One of her friends reached out to us about an afternoon tea being held at The Church of England St Bartholomew's Areley Kings Stourport on Severn asking if we could bring Mary along for a catch up. Cake would be involved so of course we said yes!
It was so wonderful to see so many of Mary’s old friends and hear the stories and memories they shared. We had afternoon tea and then had a look inside the church and where Mary always sat.
We look forward to visiting again for the next afternoon tea in the new year!

Having a 'Hoot' at Hollyfields
Residents at Hollyfields and Ivy House love the animals from domestic to wild! Today we had a visit from North Yorkshire Moors Birds of Prey who brough in a parliament of Owls for our residents to meet.
We learned some amazing facts ... Did you know an owl is soundless in flight, allowing them to catch their prey and that they have supersonic hearing and can even hear our heartbeats!
As one of the foundations of our Life Enrichment program, we know that animal therapy can help reduce blood pressure and improve overall cardiovascular health. Our residents loved being able to see them up close and were even brave enough to hold them.
