Activities at Hollyfields Care Home

Our Activities programme is formulated using resident requests and feedback from resident meetings. Residents are involved in planning the programme with things they they would like to do throughout the year. There is a mixture of activities that take place including both group and 1-1 engagement. Residents at Hollyfields particularly enjoy movement to music activities enabling them to increase their level of physical abilities and have fun at the same time, whilst others enjoy musical singalongs and food based activities throughout the week.

We have a mini bus that enables us to reconnect our residents with their community in ways that suite themselves as individuals. This can be achieved by visiting local farms, Georgian towns, local attractions and even the local public house for lunch with friends. Hollyfields have a great relationship with their local community and have visits from local organisations such as The Wyre Community Land Trust and are currently undertaking a 12 week funded project from Arts Etc. Residents at Hollyfields enjoy Pet Therapy visits from their pet rabbit 'Thumper' and like to help clean and feed him daily. Relatives can be encouraged to join us for activities and again are very supportive with delivering theme days and fundraising events within the home.

Paul the Singer

This week we were entertained by the lovely Paul who is a nurse by day, and a fabulous entertainer by night! (And at the weekends)!

Paul engaged our residents and had them singing and dancing the morning away.

They all agreed he should visit again soon! He also does panto which we would love to see in the future, so I think we may be seeing more of him!

Kidderminster College Students Visit

Today, we had the pleasure of hosting a group of enthusiastic students from Kidderminster College who are pursuing their studies in the field of sports.

Their visit brought immense joy to our esteemed residents as they engaged in a delightful session of seated exercises. It was truly heartwarming to witness the positive interactions and connections formed between our residents and the students.

One of the highlights of the visit was Valerie's skilful demonstration of the bean bag clap under the leg, which left everyone smiling and thoroughly entertained.

Our residents at Ivy House also had the opportunity to engage with the students, creating a memorable experience for all involved.

We express our sincere gratitude to the students and teachers for their heartwarming visit, and we eagerly anticipate the opportunity to welcome them back in the future.

World Children's Day Picnic

Today at Hollyfields we hosted a Teddy Bears Picnic. Families bought in their children along with their treasured friends and enjoyed stories, some of which the residents read to us.  Some of the children also visited residents in their rooms and read some of their favourite stories.

We also enjoyed listening to vintage lullaby’s, singing along and talking about what memories they evoked in us. It was lovely to see the children and residents interact and talk about their bear friends. Thank you to all those who visited and joined in today.

Flower Arranging

We have a weekly fresh flower delivery to our home every Monday. Our ladies thoroughly enjoy the flower arranging process and engaging in conversations with one another. It is delightful to listen to their experiences related to flower arrangements in the past.

Happy Birthday 'Chrissy'

On Tuesday, we celebrated Chrissy from Ivy House's birthday. She had a delightful celebration with her family, friends, and our esteemed team. Chrissy expressed a desire to dine at one of her local pubs, so Gemma graciously came in on her day off today to escort Chrissy to her birthday lunch.
