Activities at Glenroyd Care Home

Here at the Glenroyd our specialist activities staff are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from entertainers and musicians. Everyone is different and gets pleasure from different things and here at Glenroyd we understand that and therefore try to provide a programme of activity that is tailored to individuals needs. We do this by gathering information and life history work and using that information to feed into our activities schedule. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and events as often as they can.

Agata Prendota

Activities Coordinator

Hi, my name is Agata Prendota and I am the activities coordinator here at Glenroyd. I have worked at Glenroyd since 2014 and in April 2022 transferred to activities. I developed a strong relationship with many of our residents and their families. This has helped me to create a tailored activities program focused on maximizing everyone’s wellbeing, independence, and social engagement.

It is my goal to create a stimulating environment that enables to provide imaginative, fun, and motivational activities that suit every interest and ability. My infectious enthusiasm and creative approach are the key to inspire our residents and staff to get involved in activities both within the home and in the local community.

I am passionate about my role and especially the challenge of coming up with new ways to engage as many residents as possible in daily activities.

Life at Glenroyd Care Home

Greenfingers!

We have been busy getting our garden ready for spring and with the warmer weather approaching we can spend a more time relaxing and enjoying activities in our outdoor space with a lovely view.  Resident, Jimmy has enjoyed planting daffodils around the garden and we cannot wait for it to be full of color.

David's sanctuary

David a resident of Glenroyd Care home loves nothing more than being able to see the birds that come to visit outside of his bedroom window daily, due to David being unable to get out of bed we have created a dedicated part of the garden for him to be able to enjoy the view and the passing of wildlife.

Pancake Day

We enjoyed making our own home made pancakes as part  of our Shrove Tuesday celebrations and we were all very impressed with how they tasted. They looked amazing and even putting our baking skills to the test by each flipping the pancakes, before we decorated them with various savoury and sweet toppings. What’s your favourite topping?

Valentine's Day

Glenroyd care home, in Blackpool, was filled with flowers, cards and sweets in celebration of St Valentine’s Day.

Staff and residents celebrated the day of love by having visits in the homes designated visiting suite with loved ones, exchanging handmade cards and gifts for one another, creating heart-shaped decorations to decorate the home and gifting each other home-made sweets, cakes and treats.

General Manager, Judith Edmondson, said: “It’s been a very different Valentine’s Day but we’ve all had a lovely day nonetheless. Lots of our residents were able to see their loved ones either using our visiting suite or on a video call. We’ve had a whole range of treats and Valentine’s themed fun and we have enjoyed every moment of it!”

Residents of Glenroyd were delighted to meet Santa on Christmas Day as he delivered presents to the home and each of the residents.  Jason Dawson, a staff member at the home dressed as Santa to spread a little festive cheer to the amusement of all.

Residents opened their presents together before enjoying a traditional Christmas lunch prepared by the homes hospitality team.  It was a fun filled day with lots of emotions and everyone had a wonderful team.   Each staff member also received a gift generously donated by the homes local Primark store in Blackpool and would like to say a massive thank you for their kind donation.
