Activities at Glebefields Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.
Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience, and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Life at Glebefields Care Home

We are beyond proud
Huge congratulations to our very own Nurse Sundarraj Kallidoss, who has been named Learner of the Year at the 2024 Barchester Care Awards. His hard work and enthusiasm have earned him the top spot, and we are very proud of him. You are an inspiration to us all and a shining example of what it means to go above and beyond. We are honored to have you as part of the Glebefields family and cannot wait to see what the future holds for you! To celebrate this incredible achievement, staff and residents gathered in the garden for a sweet celebration with cakes and treats. Join us in congratulating Sundarraj on this amazing achievement.

Minibus Trip to Horse Sanctuary
We had a great day out at the Horse Sanctuary in Oxhill with a picnic lunch. The weather was perfect, and everyone enjoyed the peaceful surroundings and the beautiful horses.
Our residents had a fun time petting the horses, sharing stories with each other, and soaking up the sun. The picnic lunch was very tasty, and the laughter and smiles made it a truly wonderful sunny day. Thank you to everyone who helped make this trip possible. We are already looking forward to our next outing.

Regional Summer Party at Chacombe Park
On Tuesday, 30th July 2024, Glebefields Care Home family joined the celebrations at Chacombe Park Care Home - Barchester Healthcare for International Friendship Day. Residents, staff, and friends from nearby homes came together for a fantastic summer party, enjoying sunshine, a BBQ, a tiki bar, live entertainment, and garden games. Alan the saxophonist provided lively music, and everyone had a refreshing treat from the ice cream van. A special thanks to the dedicated staff who volunteered to be put in stocks, creating a fun and special moment as residents threw wet sponges. The day was a great success, offering residents and staff a wonderful opportunity to meet new friends and strengthen community ties. We look forward to the next opportunity to bring all our regional homes together.

Celebrating National Gorgeous Grandma Day
On July 23rd, we celebrated the incredible grandmothers, nannies, and grannies in our Glebefields family with a special celebration.
The celebration starts with a cake cutting ceremony, followed by an unforgettable performance by Fiona Harrison, 'Voice in a Million'. Her singing and dancing got everyone in the mood, and we had a fantastic time singing along and dancing together. It was a wonderful day to treasure in our memories. Happy National Gorgeous Grandma Day to our amazing ladies. We think you are simply the best.

Burton Dassett Hills Trip
This week we had a lovely minibus trip to Burton Dassett Hills. Residents enjoyed the sunshine and refreshments whilst taking in the stunning views. It was lovely to spend time in the hills, relaxing and soaking up the beauty of the valley. The fresh air and good company made it a wonderful day.
Regular trips to local attractions, areas of natural beauty and other excursions are important parts of our life enrichment program and feature often on our resident-led activity planners.

Celebrating Six Decades of Community Radio
We had a trip out to Horton Hospital to meet all the amazing volunteers and celebrate Radio Horton's 60 years of providing music, requests, talks, and enriching the lives of those staying in the Hospital and within the community. We gave requests and heard them played on the radio. Tom and Margaret were introduced to Radio Horton's president, Mr. John Craven, a TV celebrity in his own right, famous for presenting John Craven's Newsround in the 70's and recently Countryfile on TV. Thanks for the warm welcome and for all that you do to enrich lives. Here's to many more years of great music, requests, and talks.
