Activities at Glebefields Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.
Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience, and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Hi, my name is Kay and I’m the Activities Lead for all things ‘Life Enrichment’ at Glebefields care home in Drayton, Banbury.
Throughout my career within the care industry, I have thrived o the many challenges presented and developed immense satisfaction through enabling others. As an activities coordinator, I act with integrity and always ensure that I place residents at the heart of what I do. I work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team to help create and maintain a robust service. I am committed to my personal and professional development which aligns Health and Social Care core values, providing diversity, empowerment, equality and independence for all residents.

Life at Glebefields Care Home
A Fantastic Minibus Trip to Barn Farm Plants & Antiques Centre
Tom, Margaret, and Sheila had a fantastic morning out with staff Kay and Sheela on a trip to Barn Farm Plants & Antiques Centre.
They loved wandering through the beautiful plants, browsing all the unique antiques, and soaking up the lovely atmosphere. Of course, a hot drink and a toasted tea cake was a must.
Everyone had a great time, chatting, laughing, and enjoying a relaxing break together. We love seeing our residents out and about, making memories and enjoying special moments.
London Fashion Week
We had a brilliant time celebrating London Fashion Week and reminiscing about their favourite fashions over the years. From the Swinging Sixties, typified by Mary Quant, Ossie Clark and Barbara Hulanicki’s Biba, through to Vivienne Westwood’s punk provocations and Alexander McQueen’s dark and dramatic visions, London has a long legacy of producing extraordinary design, but the first London Fashion Week didn’t take place until 1984.
Staff and residents at Glebefields care home used London Fashion Week as a great excuse to talk about what fashion means to them and to reminisce about different outfits they have worn over the years. Staff and residents swapped photos of their favourite outfits, talked about clothes they had made themselves or that they had bought or had made for special occasions. As part of the celebration, they even designed their own favourite clothes.
Joan, a resident at Glebefields care home, commented: “I have always loved clothes and keeping up with the latest trends. I used to make my own outfits when I was younger. I had a little sewing machine and I would look at what the models were wearing in the fashion magazines and run myself up something similar to wear to the dance."
Residents enjoy a new activity
Learning to play the ukulele with thanks to Eric Kingdon, a professional ukulele tutor from Gumbley's Music School, who will be inspiring our residents to strum a few chords.
Fun and laughter was had by all who came along. Especially for Barry, who was a professional mandolin musician, travelling the world entertaining everyone. Barry decided to give up the mandolin due to health and has not picked up a musical instrument since, so this was a big achievement for him. He took to the ukulele like a duck to water. Well done Barry, we are so proud of you.
Valentine's Day Celebrations!
Glebefields Care Home celebrated Valentine's Day in style. Our home was decorated with flowers, cards, and sweets, spreading joy and love to all. Staff and residents came together to make the day special, sharing roses, sweet treats, and warm wishes.
The afternoon's cake-cutting ceremony and tea party were a delightful highlight, accompanied by the talented Vintage Ruby's beautiful songs. We're so grateful for the love and connection that fills our home every day. Happy Valentine's Day from our Glebefields family to yours.
Chinese New Year!
Glebefields celebrated the Year of the Wood Snake with lots of fun activities inspired by Chinese traditions.
Our home looked beautiful with red lanterns and Chinese paper decorations. The residents had a great time learning about Chinese New Year traditions and food.
For lunch, our head chef, Bose, prepared a delicious Chinese meal, featuring Vegetable Spring Rolls, Prawn crackers, Sweet and Sour Chicken, Stir-fried Beef, noodles, fried rice, and Mango and Coconut Pudding for dessert. We also cracked open fortune cookies, revealing messages of luck and happiness. Everyone enjoyed the tasty food. In the afternoon, residents and staff made Chinese-inspired bracelets, adding even more fun to our Chinese New Year celebrations.
We're very happy to everyone who joined us today. Here's to a happy and prosperous Year of the Wood Snake.
Open Day
Our recent Open Day was a really special day we won't forget. We started the day with a lovely flower club session in the morning, followed by an incredible performance by Tony Gibbons' band "Movin On" in the afternoon. Our residents had a wonderful time reminiscing and singing along to classic hits like "Hotel California," "The Most Beautiful Girl in the World," "Jolene," and many more.
