Activities at Glebefields Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.
Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience, and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Amanda Tanner
Activities Coordinator
Hi, my name is Amanda and I’m the Activities Lead for all things ‘Life Enrichment’ at Glebefields care home in Drayton, Banbury.
Having worked for the past 23 years at Banbury Museum Trust, most laterly as their Engagement and Events co-ordinator within the Banbury Museum I bring a wealth of experience to this role. I'm a local lady who knows Banbury's history like to back of my hand!
I have found memories of Glebefields care home as my mother resided here many years ago; well before the homes amazing refurbishment by Barchester Healthcare.
As an Activities Coordinator, my aim is to ensure all our resident guests continue to explore their independence, getting to know their lives prior to joining us and enabling them to remain fulfilled.
Making links with local groups and organisations to keep our residents’ part of the local community is a key part of my role, if you would like to make contact with me and our residents, please feel free to call me on 01733 246840 or drop me an email Glebefields.activities@barchester.com
Celebrating life at Glebefields Care Home
Employee of the Month – June 2025
A huge congratulations to Simon Sumners, our Head of Maintenance, for being named Employee of the Month!
Simon has been recognized for his unwavering commitment, reliability, and the pride he takes in keeping Glebefields running smoothly and safely. Whether it's fixing something behind the scenes or lending a helping hand with a smile, Simon always goes the extra mile for both residents and staff.
We’re incredibly lucky to have someone as dedicated and hardworking as Simon on our team. Well done and thank you for everything you do.
Yummy Ice Cream Anyone?
With summer in full swing, we couldn't be more excited. Our residents indulged in a variety of delicious flavours and toppings, creating their perfect ice cream sundaes.
To make things even more exciting chef joined us to showcase his talents in serving up any flavour conbination we desired with toppings to finish off each ice cream master-piece.
A fantastic time was had by all.
Church Service at Glebefields
We had a lovely time coming together for our Sunday church service, kindly led by the wonderful Reverend Alicia Baker. There was lots of hymn singing, thoughtful readings, and plenty of smiles all around.
Our residents really enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere and the chance to reflect and connect with one another.
Drayton Village Hall Coffee Morning
Our residents had a wonderful time attending the monthly coffee morning with the Drayton villagers (and pets). . . It’s always a joy to see friendships grow and smiles shared over a freshly made cup of coffee.
These regular community gatherings are such a meaningful part of our residents’ lives, helping them stay connected, engaged, and involved with the local community. Looking forward to next month already!
Day Trip to Upton House
What a wonderful way to start the day — a scenic minibus trip to the breathe taking Upton House & Gardens, complete with a cosy hot drink to keep us warm as the summer weather brought some cooling winds. Our residents loved exploring the beautiful grounds, soaking up the fresh air, and sharing laughter together.
Regular outings are just one aspect of our life enrichment program and all the trips we take are at the request of the residents. Our monthly activities calendar boasts a range of outings and entertainment. Here’s to more memorable moments and joyful adventures.
Relaxing Yoga with Sarah
'Namaste everyone'
Our residents enjoyed a peaceful yoga session with Sarah today, helping everyone feel calm, stretched, and refreshed. A perfect way to relax and unwind.
PAT Dog Therapy
We had a lovely visit from Isla the PAT dog from Therapy Dogs Nationwide.
The concept of Therapy Dogs was originally devised by Lesley Scott-Ordish back in 1976 when she discovered the trauma experienced by the elderly if forced to give up a much-loved pet upon going into residential care.
Isla and her wonderful volunteer handler brought so much joy, cuddles, and wagging tails to everyone at Glebefields care home.
Celebrating National Cream Tea Day in style!
Our residents enjoyed a wonderful afternoon with freshly baked scones, lashings of cream and jam, and plenty of tea to go around. A perfect treat and a lovely way to spend time together!
Visit to Bodicote Nurseries
A lovely visit to Cotefield Nurseries today!
Residents enjoyed seeing beautiful British flowers and had some tasty refreshments too, it was such a peaceful and refreshing day out in the summer sun!
