Forest Care Home in Mansfield
Forest Care Home shares a site with Forest Hospital, and the two are collectively known as Forest Care Centre, together offering the best in dementia and mental health care.
Forest Care Home works exclusively with residents who have challenging and complex dementia. It is a modern but warm home with an exceptional team of specialist and dedicated carers working to provide the best in modern dementia care.
Dementia Care
'Memory Lane' utilises a careful blend of skills and techniques developed by leading experts in the field of dementia care, incorporating person-centred design in its use of colour and cues to help individuals navigate through the home, whilst thoughtful interior design features, such us adapted crockery and tableware assists with reminiscence. Communities are broken up into separate units with a family feel so people can feel safe and comfortable. Care is focused on independence, dignity and choice, with a person-centred approach. Staffing levels reflect the needs of residents, and people living with dementia are offered a range of activities to help preserve life skills, support interactions and retain a sense of purpose and selfhood.
Our residents often have a variety of physical and mental health conditions but are assessed and admitted to achieve a careful balance of people who can live and thrive well together in a home from home environment.
They can take advantage of a sensory room and facilities for a wide ranging activities calendar seven days a week. The lifestyle kitchen allows staff to fully support independent living wherever possible.
Forest Care Home has its own minibus and residents are supported to visit nearby shops, libraries, cinemas, theatres and the local pool – all within easy reach of this central Mansfield location. They also use it to enjoy regular outings and trips further afield throughout the year.
General Manager Sonia Fairhurst is an experienced manager and nurse who has a wealth of knowledge and a proven ability in the care of people with dementia. “My goal is to ensure that we provide a high standard of care that reflects each individual’s needs in a safe and homely environment and that all individuals and their families are treated with respect. We want life lived to the full for every resident and to grow a reputation as the best challenging dementia care available in this area.”

Types of care
The care we provide is delivered in a way that promotes independence for those who live in our home. Where possible, it is important that residents are encouraged to perform daily tasks independently or with minor support. Our services are devised with individualised treatment in mind for each person, so getting to know everyone and understanding their needs is imperative to delivering bespoke, person-centred care.
