Activities at Falmouth Court Care Home

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Activities Coordinator

I have moved to Falmouth from Kent where I was already in place at another Barchester home as the Activities Coordinator. I love providing our residents with fulfilling activities and my specialty is arts and crafts. I have a degree in Fine Arts and achieved a first in the subject. I strive to provide our residents with a varied range of life enriching activities. I like to get to know each residents and their interests to I can tailor activities to individuals interests and hobbies.

World Cruise - Japan

Our famous 'World Cruise' event this time stopping in Japan was another great success and enjoyed hugely by the residents of Falmouth Court. We docked and our residents their families and friends enjoyed all sorts of delicious sampling bites from Japan prepared by our very talented chefs.

Everyone then tried their hand at making origami swans followed but a fun chopstick competition!

Trip to the Donkey Sanctuary

What a lovely sunny trip we all had to The Flicka Foundation Donkey Sanctuary. Our ladies had a lovely afternoon seeing the donkeys and ponies. Everyone enjoyed the last of the summer sun while taking in the breathtaking views out over Falmouth Bay. Of course coffee and delicious cake in the café was essential before a little stop in the gift shop before returning back to the home.

Resident Art Exhibition

We had a very wonderful Evening for our resident and staff Art Exhibition. With some members of our local community coming and joining our residents to enjoy some delicious cheese and wine and view many different types of arts and crafts.

It was a splendid evening and our residents thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to exhibit their lovely pieces while making new acquaintances.

Trip to Falmouth Art Gallery

Our residents had a lovely trip to Falmouth Art Gallery to see the exhibition;

The Legend of King Arthur: A Pre-Raphaelite Love Story

The exhibition tells the story for the first time of the links between the world-famous legend of King Arthur, the renowned Pre-Raphaelite artists and Cornwall’s Arthurian heritage.

It brings together over 60 iconic works of art from public and private collections and is an exclusive opportunity to see the entire Lady of Shalott series of paintings by John William Waterhouse exhibited together for the first time in the UK

Everyone really enjoyed their trip and many discussions were had over the beauty of the display.

Macmillan Coffee Morning

A very successful and busy morning at Falmouth Court today for our Macmillan Coffee Morning!
Our coffee morning was a big success – we managed to raise £146.10 and, most importantly, everyone had a lot of fun doing it!

The British charity provides financial aid, specialist healthcare services, and all different kinds of support to those living with cancer. The purpose of the coffee morning is to sit down with your friends and family and catch up with a nice cuppa for a good cause. The money raised will help Macmillan make sure no one has to face cancer alone.

Thank you to everyone in our local community for coming along to support us and this wonderful cause.

Charity Donation

This week Hugh our Home Services Advisor went along to K9 Crusaders Dog Welfare to donate the dog toys and treats left over from our national dog day. Hugh had a lovely time meeting 'Michael' pictured here and some of the other dogs. It's such a wonderful charity doing such amazing work for the community and their furry friends.
