Activities at Elgar Court Care Home

Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.

Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.

Kerrie Perks

Activities Leader

Hello, My name is Kerrie and I provide the unique life enrichment for residents at Elgar Court.  I moved to Malvern 12 years ago to live with my fiance and we have two tortoises and a snake.  I love to play Dungeons and Dragons with my friends.  I am very 'outdoorsy' and used to ride horses and compete nationally in athletics, specialising in track and field for Redditch and Bromsgrove athletics club.  In my spare time, I love being in the kitchen and making treats for my family.

Activities and Events Partnerships

As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

Elf Day Coffee Morning for Alzheimers Society

What a busy day filled with music, laughter and new friends! This morning we had fun at our Elf Coffee morning fundraiser to support the Alzheimer's society - delicious cakes were on hand in the cafe, and our lovely friend Mark was quick off the 'mark' trying to sample these goodies! At Elgar Court, we will always support those in our community in need of friendship and support.

Teamwork makes the Christmas dreams work!

What a lovely afternoon of fun we had decorating the tree, drinking mulled wine and then live entertainment!  Residents really enjoyed making their home festive, and decorating it just how they did before moving to us.  We truly cherish the traditions our residents bring to our home and sharing the memories these bring. If you haven't got your Countdown to Christmas calendar yet, please do pick up a free festive scroll from our reception.

Pudding Pleasers - A trio of delights!

Slimming for Christmas? Ho, ho, ho, ho, we don't think so!  Our residents are able to enjoy fine dining and themed meals on a regular basis at Elgar Court. One of the many delicious desserts we all enjoyed this week was a trio of puddings! From english trifle, mousse dacquoise and good old rice pudding, our little trios are a way of enjoying a little bit of everything and pleasing everyone!

Well Being Salon - Our Spa Treatments

Even on a rainy Sunday, our residents can enjoy a variety of services and activities at our home. Today, Judy has decided to have a manicure and get her nails painted. Judy said she doesn’t normally get her nails done, but said, "it's really nice to treat yourself once in a while". This is a free service we offer, and at Elgar Court, that's what we like to do - Spending one to one with residents, creating memories and ensuring our residents lead full enriched lives - and keeping out of the rain! For further information about our home, and getting involved with our Christmas events, please call us on: 01684 211720 / https://www.barchester.com/.../elgar.../life-at-our-home

One for the Christmas Cake

At Elgar court Christmas starts early!  Here we can see our resident Ambassador Maureen and Susan feeding the Christmas cakes with brandy....one for the cake and one for the residents!    Our cultural traditions, language and experiences are the foundations upon which we build our identity. Through promoting these in our home we'll have a positive impact on our own health and well-being as well as the people we care for.

Lest We Forget. We won’t forget.

Lest We Forget. We won’t forget.Last Remembrance Sunday, our residents spent time reflecting about those we lost in the war and the gratitude they feel for the lives they now lead, and how they look forward to the future. Hosting an event for the Poppy Appeal Coffee morning and Mini concert for friends, family members and the community to join us, is an essential part of our daily life. Our earlier posts saw residents putting together their own poppies as a sign of their respect to the armed forces, and they are still proudly standing today.
