Activities at Elgar Court Care Home

Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.

Kerrie Perks

Activities Leader

Hello, My name is Kerrie and I provide the unique life enrichment for residents at Elgar Court.  I moved to Malvern 12 years ago to live with my fiance and we have two tortoises and a snake.  I love to play Dungeons and Dragons with my friends.  I am very 'outdoorsy' and used to ride horses and compete nationally in athletics, specialising in track and field for Redditch and Bromsgrove athletics club.  In my spare time, I love being in the kitchen and making treats for my family.

At Last! Warmer Weather

I am sure you will all agree, British summer has been slightly unpredictable this year. However as soon as we had a warm spell this week, residents were quick to get out into the garden and start planting the pumpkins ready for autumn. Watch this space to see how they grow – fingers crossed!

And after all of that gardening, isn’t it nice to have a refreshing drink on the terrace and make the most of the fantastic weather here.

Life doesn’t stop once you move to Elgar Court, in fact we celebrate our residents and with our care and support , we encourage everyone to live the life they want.

Caring is in our nature!

We have been open for three weeks now – hoorah! However, people passing by have noticed that we have scaffolding up again…..

But no, thankfully our building isn’t faulty or falling down. You will be pleased to hear that as well as taking great care of our residents, we are currently taking great care of local nature too by installing bird boxes and bat boxes onto Elgar Court.

Next week is National Bat Week, so we will post any pictures of wildlife we see from our second floor terrace, where we will have a ‘birds eye’ view !!

Cinema club is now in full swing!

Friday cinema club is now well under way, with our residents enjoying watching films the way they used to at the cinema - a tub of ice cream and popcorn! Giggles were heard all afternoon from the lounge, as residents watched their chosen ‘film du jour’, ‘The Fully Monty’! Families and friends of residents are also welcome, so please do drop by and join in

A little bit of Italy comes to Elgar Court this week

At Elgar Court, resident enrichment is an incredibly important part of our care. This week, one of our fun activities was Italian themed, with residents enjoying pizzas they created and made themselves.

Residents started the day with a continental breakfast of platters of melon, Italian meats, cheeses and croissants. Then at lunchtime, fun and laughter filled our dining room with residents making their pizzas – and wearing their Chef hats!. As you can see from the results, these pizzas looked delicious and our residents were super pleased with their creations – all enjoyed with a variety of homemade Italian side dishes and desserts of Tiramisu and a Limoncello tart. Buon appetito!

Finding Joy - One to One Time

A Resident’s daily enrichment and joy can take many forms,  which is why one to one quality time is really meaningful to a resident, and to us.

Truly getting to know our residents, ensures we meet their emotional needs and more importantly, these are understood by us.    Pictured here is our carer Fran, exploring a number of activities with our special resident, Martha and finding out what gives her joy.
