Activities at Elgar Court Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.
Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.

Kerrie Perks
Hello, My name is Kerrie and I provide the unique life enrichment for residents at Elgar Court. I moved to Malvern 12 years ago to live with my fiance and we have two tortoises and a snake. I love to play Dungeons and Dragons with my friends. I am very 'outdoorsy' and used to ride horses and compete nationally in athletics, specialising in track and field for Redditch and Bromsgrove athletics club. In my spare time, I love being in the kitchen and making treats for my family.
Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

Tour de Barchester - Cycling Miles for Charity
They came, they saw……. and on they conquered….!
For the third year running, staff from Barchester Healthcare’s care homes and hospitals took on the gruelling Tour de Barchester challenge, cycling over 200 miles this year from Carmarthen to Wallingford in Oxfordshire to raise money for Barchester’s Charitable Foundation, and stopping at 14 of their care home along the way.
Today the cycling team which includes Paul Patchett, our Head of Maintenance at Elgar Court, were welcomed by the care home’s residents, staff, Malvern Community Police and Malvern College Military Cadets.
After enjoying delicious refreshments and live entertainment, the cyclists set off on the next leg of their journey to Tewkesbury before finishing in Oxfordshire tomorrow. Malvern College’s Cadets lined the route out of the home and PC Dave Olczak from the Malvern Policing team, joined the cyclists to ride to Tewkesbury, with PCSO Becky and PCSO Collette leading the cavalcade safely along the route with their police cars.
It was a wonderful sight to see the cyclists today and a big thank you to our residents, staff, Malvern Police and Malvern College Cadets for making the event so special for our charity cyclists.

Exciting News! Cadbury and Alzheimer's Society
To mark Dementia Action Week, Sarah, our General Manager, was interviewed and featured, alongside some of our lovely residents, in a video showcasing a wonderful initiative.
@CadburyUK has partnered with @AlzheimersResearchUK to support the charity’s mission in accelerating progress towards a cure for dementia.
As part of the partnership, Memory Bar Boxes were delivered to care services across the country, including all Barchester homes and hospitals.
Created following requests from carers and care homes to the Cadbury archives to help support with reminiscence work, these nostalgic boxes feature Cadbury Daily Milk bars from 1915 to the present day and a digital download link to additional archive material. They have been specially created to stimulate conversation and support memory activities for people living with dementia and their loved ones.
We're proud to be part of this meaningful project and grateful for Cadbury's thoughtful contribution to our residents.

Pudding Club - Ida cooks up a storm!
Pudding Club is in full swing at our home, where residents childhood favourites (and adult) have been brought to the table. This week, Ida decided she wanted to make her favourite Sticky Toffee pudding – and not the Chef, as only she knew how to make her secret family Italian recipe! It was delicious and Ida has wonderful memories and stories of this pudding – Ida even insisted on washing up afterwards!!

Celebrating 200 Years of Cadbury
This is National Dementia Awareness Week.
Celebrating Dementia Action Week at our care home was truly special.
During this year’s Dementia Action Week, our residents had the opportunity to take part in a live virtual event and delve into Cadbury incredible 200-year history and take a trip down memory lane to reminisce on some of the nation’s most loved chocolate.
Our residents and teams came together for a heart warming reminiscing activity to share memories and lovely stories.
Thanks to the generous support of Cadbury, we received a delightful surprise – memory bar boxes filled with Dairy Milk bars wrapped in designs reflecting Cadbury rich 200-year history.
We all had a great time and enjoyed some delicious sweet treats!
