Activities at Crandon Springs Care Home

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Katherine Cork

Activities Assistant

Hello, my name is Kath and I’m the Activities Assistant here at Crandon Springs.

As part of the Activities and lifestyle enrichment team, I help in organising our daily activities, ensuring that all of our residents have a variety of activities to choose from each day. I love enriching our residents’ lives by providing meaningful and engaging activities and, having been both a teacher and care assistant in the past, have a wealth of experience behind me. You'll rarely find me without a smile and I'm very family orientated, and I love how both the residents' and colleagues Crandon Springs feel like a second family to me!

We hosted Owl Obsession

We hosted Owl Obsession UK at Crandon Springs Care Home.

The residents, families and staff absolutely loved the experience.

The Owls, Woody, Pooyle and Splat loved the attention and enjoyed being stroked.

A very big thank you to Anna and Lee from Owl Obsession UK for visiting.

Health Awareness Week

As part of our Health Awareness Week, we held a Vegetarian Cafe - absolutely no real meat! We sampled all types of vegetarian food including “Veggie Sausages” and “Veggie Chicken” - we also sampled some dips and sauces, one of our visitors even made us some fruit kebabs as a special treat! Thank you, they were delicious.

We then tried “Kombucha” a live cultured fruit drink - but not everyone was fan!

We hope you are all keeping well and healthy!

The Gardening Club

The Gardening Club took a walk to the market, they collected some flowers and bulbs ready to plant.

We set about potting the plants and embedding some flowers. Let's see what we can accomplish in the Garden this year!

A Right Royal Occasion

A Right Royal Occasion

Residents, Relatives and Staff enjoyed a Royal afternoon celebrating the coronation of His Majesty Charles III and Queen Camilla with our very own Party.

Meeting King Charles: The day I rode the railway with the future king.

Dame Elizabeth Gass, Lady Gass, was Lord-Lieutenant of Somerset from 1998 to 2015 and is a resident with us here at Crandon Springs Care Home.

Lady Gass encountered the then Prince of Wales at Somerset's model Railway at the Bath and West Showground in 2009 and said it was a "really memorable day".

Out and About

As part of the King's Coronation celebrations in Wells, we attended the art exhibition that is taking place in the Cathedral Cloisters.

We then went to the Loft restaurant for coffee and cake 🎂 followed by a browse around the Farmers Market.

We made it back to Crandon Springs in time to enjoy our lunch, freshly made by our amazing Chef Stu!
