Activities at Crandon Springs Care Home

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Katherine Cork

Activities Assistant

Hello, my name is Kath and I’m the Activities Assistant here at Crandon Springs.

As part of the Activities and lifestyle enrichment team, I help in organising our daily activities, ensuring that all of our residents have a variety of activities to choose from each day. I love enriching our residents’ lives by providing meaningful and engaging activities and, having been both a teacher and care assistant in the past, have a wealth of experience behind me. You'll rarely find me without a smile and I'm very family orientated, and I love how both the residents' and colleagues Crandon Springs feel like a second family to me!

Life at Crandon Springs Care Home

Wells Carnival

Today we were visited by members of the Wells Carnival Committee. We are hoping that this will be the start of a great collaboration. Wells carnival is part of the Somerset Guy Fawkes carnival circuit which happens every November. Between now, and then, we will be welcoming the committee to hold their meetings at Crandon Springs , and hopefully offer a place of refuge for Marshalls, The Police and the Carnival Committee on that cold November night. The residents and staff at Crandon Springs are already looking forward to carnival night and we hope our families will be joining us for another fabulous event!

We are always happy to engage with our local community, and there is no bigger event in Somerset like the carnival.

WEST END!

One of our lovely ladies at Crandon Springs has a very talented granddaughter who will soon be appearing in the WEST END! We are proud to share a preview of the show…. Just for you Maria x

Ladies Carpet Bowls

Our residents having an enjoyable afternoon playing bowls.

Bowls might not be the most aggressive or demanding exercise you could choose to take part in, but it still provides a stimulus for maintaining muscle mass – particularly in the lower body.

One of the biggest challenges that older adults face is the loss of muscle through inactivity. Referred to as ‘sarcopenia’, a significant loss of muscle can affect everything from metabolic health, to functional strength if it isn’t corrected.

Wells Business network breakfast

Thank you to everybody who came along to the Wells Business network breakfast today at Crandon Springs Care Home. We thoroughly enjoyed it.
Thanks to Tanys Pullin, 649th Mayor of Wells,  who talked about her vivid and varied career and also gave us an update on her project - Tanys Pullin - The Mayor's New Clothes.

Keeping In toch!

Eileen, our resident who has travelled the world and earned "The Honor Society of Nursing" award, wrote letters to her friends and we took a walk down the High street to post them.
