Activities at Crandon Springs Care Home

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Katherine Cork

Activities Assistant

Hello, my name is Kath and I’m the Activities Assistant here at Crandon Springs.

As part of the Activities and lifestyle enrichment team, I help in organising our daily activities, ensuring that all of our residents have a variety of activities to choose from each day. I love enriching our residents’ lives by providing meaningful and engaging activities and, having been both a teacher and care assistant in the past, have a wealth of experience behind me. You'll rarely find me without a smile and I'm very family orientated, and I love how both the residents' and colleagues Crandon Springs feel like a second family to me!

Hop to it. One thing’s for certain, 2023 will be Hopin Hopin’.

Here at Crandon Springs we celebrated the Chinese New Year. The Lunar New Year arrived on Sunday, January 22, 2023, bringing us into the Year of the Rabbit, specifically the Water Rabbit. How will the wet bunny bode?

Staff and residents all had fortune cookies and got find our animal sign.

The Chinese calendar has a six decade cycle defined by 12 earthly animal totems and the five elements of wood, fire, earth, metal and water.

As in Western astrology, there are 12 signs within the Chinese zodiac, each represented by a different animal: Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Goat, Monkey, Rooster, Dog and Pig, and each ruling a different set of years.

The Chinese zodiac is known as shengxiao, which translates to “born resembling,” based on the belief that people inherit the traits of the animal whose sign they fall under.

National Activity Providers and Professional Week!

Here at Crandon Springs we are very lucky to have a fabulous activity team who work tirelessly to improve the lives of the residents in our home.

This week is National Activity Providers and Professional Week and we would like to take this opportunity to say thank you to Claire, Helen and Mia for everything you do to ensure there is always something interesting happening within the home.

We all love the parties you plan, the crafts you create, the trips out we take and the inventive, novel ways you find to bring seasonal celebrations into the home.

As part of the week, our Activities Coordinators will been taking part in a whole host of events provided by NAPA, connecting and sharing ideas with teams across the country.

Special celebrations are also taking place at the home throughout the week with residents, friends and fellow colleagues.

Thank you!

Coxley Primary School

We welcome a local village school, Coxley Primary School, to Crandon Springs. The children delighted us with a variety of Christmas songs and then chatted with our lovely residents. After a squash and biscuit they all recieved a chocolate lolly and it was then back to school for lunch. Thankyou to all the children and their teachers from us all at Crandon Springs. What a magical Morning

The Vixens

What an absolutely amazing “Family Christmas Celebration” we enjoyed today here at Crandon Springs. Our Special Guests - “The Vixens” were incredible… singing carols at the doorway whilst snow was falling behind them… and then a set of old and new Christmas Songs in beautiful harmony.. We had an amazing audiance of 65 people - all of whom enjoyed themselves. The performance was accompanied by Mulled Wine and Bucks Fizz and followed by a delicious Christmas Buffett, prepared by our very talented Chefs!

A massive thank you to everyone who came, everyone who helped and of course “The Vixens”

Merry Christmas Everyone!

—There will be some videos posted shortly, for everyone to see a snippet of the wonderful singing —
