Activities at Crandon Springs Care Home

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Katherine Cork

Activities Assistant

Hello, my name is Kath and I’m the Activities Assistant here at Crandon Springs.

As part of the Activities and lifestyle enrichment team, I help in organising our daily activities, ensuring that all of our residents have a variety of activities to choose from each day. I love enriching our residents’ lives by providing meaningful and engaging activities and, having been both a teacher and care assistant in the past, have a wealth of experience behind me. You'll rarely find me without a smile and I'm very family orientated, and I love how both the residents' and colleagues Crandon Springs feel like a second family to me!

Life at Crandon Springs Care Home

French Boules

Out on the graveled area of the Crandon Springs garden, some of our residents were recently caught on camera enjoying a sneaky game of French Boules...

The community here in the home has really grown into something lovely since we opened and It's particularly nice that they can instigate games such as this themselves!

Friday Card Club

Our fantastic residents do love a game or two of cards here at Crandon Springs and in particular, love to share the fun with others...

Each Friday, without fail, residents come together of their own accord and thoroughly enjoy each other's company, as well as a good game of cards...

It wouldn't be card club, of course, without some sneaky nibbles and drink or two!

Celebrating Volunteers

Following on from a recent post, we now want to pay homage to the lovely Peter...

Peter's has a very personal experience with care home environments, after volunteering at his wife's care home prior to her sad passing in October last year.

Peter then threw himself into a wide variety of volunteering roles, before eventually coming to Crandon Springs after being introduced to us by Tracey, our very own Activities Co-ordinator.

On being asked why he enjoys coming so much, his response was, 'The appreciation from both staff and residents is reward enough and I feel I am making a real difference.' That he is!

Peter helps by driving our mini-bus on trips out, gets involved with activities and is always game for a costume or too, which makes everyone smile...

We must say, he made a fantastic leprechaun too!

THANK YOU PETER!

Green Fingered Friends!

Over the next couple of posts, we wanted to give a nod to the amazing people that volunteer their time to the benefit of our lovely residents.

Today, we say a HUGE THANK YOU to the wonderful Barry, who recently came to to tend to some of the weeding here in the Crandon Springs garden, much to the appreciation of our onlooking residents.

Stopping only to 'wet the whistle' and chat with everyone watching his work, Barry worked his magic and our garden looks all the better for it!

Barry, you are VERY welcome here at Crandon Springs any time and your efforts are such a blessing to our home.

THANK YOU!

More Musical Moments...

Yet another wonderful day here at Crandon Springs today...

What is that sound coming from our lounge? Why, it's the lovely Joe, the entertainer, who has come to sing to everyone here in our lovely home!

Residents from all over the home joined together for a sing and a dance this afternoon, and they very much enjoyed Joe's tunes.

Thank you Joe, for another fun-filled, happy session!

Marvellous Music Man!

The amazing Michael Angus was back here at Crandon Springs recently, much to the delight of our residents...

Out in the beautiful Crandon Springs garden, Michael had everyone tapping and singing along with his music, leaving many a smile in his wake!

Isn't it amazing just how joyful music can be? Never underestimate the value of a good tune!
