Activities at Corrina Lodge Care Home

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Sharon Rickman

Activities Coordinator

Hi, my name is Sharon, and I'm part of the activities team here at Corrina Lodge and have worked here for over 20 years. I thoroughly enjoy my job and have achieved an NVQ Level 3 in Activities whilst working here. During my time here, I have met some truly amazing people and I feel privileged to work in a home with such a sense of community.

Fantastic Physio

Fantastic Physio

We are delighted and proud to say that Corrina Lodge is the only residential home in the local community to have its own in-house physiotherapists.

Adam, Sophie and his team visit twice a week, enabling residents to benefit from some excellent physio sessions to help rehabilitate and exercise muscles.

Resident, Dave, is pictured above being supported by the wonderful Sophie.

Residents are saying how beneficial this provision is and how refreshing it is to have such an amazing service.

Our physio service is included in our fees and is not an additional cost for anyone living here.

The Wonders of Technology

The Wonders of Technology

To make good use of the Wi-Fi at Corrina Lodge, we purchased two tablets. Resident, Ron, and Head of Activities, Mel, spent time searching for information on the submarine Ron served on during World War 2.

Ron was absolutely delighted when we found some actual floor plans of his submarine. Ron showed us where he slept and shared many stories of the things he got up to.

We really enjoyed learning more about his past!

Popping in to see Grandad

Popping in to see Grandad

When this gorgeous little pickle stopped by to see her grandad, we all stopped what we were doing as she came toddling into the home with confidence. She stopped for a wave and a chatter, played peek-a-boo and made everyone laugh.

She absolutely brightens our day and puts a smile on everyone’s face when she comes to visit. Residents love having children in their home and enjoy lots of family visits. We even have toys and books ready and, of course, plenty of cakes.

Our Residents' Chairman

Our Residents' Chairman

Hello, I’m Mark and I have been elected as Chairman of our Residents' Committee. The committee meets every two months and we make lifestyle choices for the home.

I’ve lived at Corrina Lodge since 2017, and I have had so much support with activities that it has engaged my interest in all sorts of ways. My interest in art has resurfaced and I now pursue this hobby actively. I also really enjoy taking photos around the home using my iPad, which get uploaded on to our TV in the reception area and are a great talking point for visitors.

As a spokesperson for our community, I enjoy helping others, welcoming visitors and getting involved with all aspects of life here at the home. I come from a very large family; I am one of nine siblings. My family and friends visit often and have recognised that living at Corrina Lodge has greatly enhanced my life.
