Activities at Corrina Lodge Care Home

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Life at Corrina Lodge Care Home

Retail Therapy for Residents at Corrina Lodge

As well as our regular mini bus trips to local attractions and places of interest, we also enjoy welcoming visitors into our Community to encourage independence for residents for the opportunity to shop for themselves and relatives, as well as to enjoy some retail therapy.

Recently, we were re-visited by Jean, a lovely lady who lives locally and brought a selection of her wares for us to browse and sample, including a selection of her delicious, homemade jams and chutneys which are always popular with our residents

Bake-Off for residents at Corrina Lodge Nursing Home

As the evenings have started to draw in, we recently had an afternoon of fun together at our weekly supper club and enjoyed baking some delicious autumnal, season inspired apple, blackberry and cinnamon crumble pies together.

As well as participating in the practical baking activities, some of our residents simply come along to enjoy socialising and to reminisce with their friends, also sharing their favourite recipes, top tips and ideas with each other.

The delicious smell of the desserts emanating from the oven while they were cooking, heightened everyone's appetite and when served at suppertime, everyone agreed the crumbles tasted delicious.

Autumn Arts & Crafts at Corrina Lodge

As we move from an extended summer into autumn, we've been embracing the season change and the noticing the beautiful colours reflected in the trees and shrubs in our garden, stimulating our senses with some creative autumnal crafts.

Taking inspiration from the hues of burnt orange and vibrant reds on the leaves we collected, we wanted to create some keepsakes to showcase the beauty of nature.

Residents had fun together, showing their artistic talents by creating very pretty, leafy wall hangings. Whilst working, we enjoyed reminiscing as we crafted, remembering collecting conkers as children and running through the fallen leaves crunching them under our feet to create and share such happy memories together.

A pup-tastical time for Residents and some furry friends at Corrina Lodge Nursing Home

Our residents enjoyed a pup-tastic afternoon when Judy and Carol from 'Ripley's Australian Labradoodles' visited us at the weekend with a litter of 5 week old labradoodle puppies to the sheer delight of everyone.

https://www.ripleysaustralianlabradoodles.co.uk/ based on the Surrey, Hampshire & Berkshire border.

A popular crossbreed that combine the traits of Labradors and Poodles, we all enjoyed cuddles with the cute little bundles of fluff.

Residents were invited to suggest names for them and everyone agreed it was a a perfect afternoon filled with happiness and joy!

Songs of Praise & Thank Yous

Corrina Lodge has been so very blessed to have had the pleasure of Chris and Clare Nobbs, members of St Michael's Church congregation, who have been hosting monthly 'Songs of Praise' services for 15 years and have decided it is the right time to bid us "au revoir" and passed the baton onto Sarah and Patricia, also from St Michael's Church who will kindly be taking over and we are really looking forward to welcoming into our community.

We are so incredibly grateful for all the monthly 'Songs of Praise Services' that Chris and Clare have shared with us over the years and the support and care they have shown us as all is so very much appreciated for supporting our residents' spiritual needs over the years. which has had such a positive impact on our residents' wellbeing. To say thank you and show our appreciation for all their kindness over the years, residents presented them with a signed poetry book and some beautiful flowers.

A heartfelt "thank you for everything you’ve done Chris and Clare" from us all at Corrina Lodge - please keep in touch.

Come dine with us (to combat loneliness) at Corrina Lodge Nursing Home

As the nights draw in and daylight hours reduce, we're mindful there are many elderly people living locally who are more prone to loneliness than ever.

So in keeping with our 'Don't Dine Alone" initiative, we extended an invitation 'come dine with us' to some of the senior members in the Camberley area, via local charity group Surrey Heath Age Concern (SHAC), and even collected them from their respective homes in our minibus.

After enjoying a delicious, nutritious 3-course lunch with our residents, that was prepared and served by our fabulous Head Chef Kath, our guests, which also included Sarah Jane Croke, SHAC Fundraising Manager, eagerly participated in our Life Enrichment, afternoon activity by applying their general knowledge skills to The Corrina Lodge, 'Big Quiz', which got very competitive! Being an integral part at the hub of our local community is something Dumitru, General Manager and the Team at Corrina Lodge enjoy passionately and are committed to encourage new friendships between our guests and residents, and future dates are being already being considered.

If you're a carer, friend or relative of someone who would benefit from joining us our guest to enjoy a hearty meal, companionship and some fun, please phone or email to book a place.
