Activities at Cookridge Court Care Home

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Laura Marshall

Head Activities Coordinator (on Maternity leave)

My name is Laura and I am the Head Activities Coordinator here at Cookridge Court. I have worked in care since 2014 and get so much satisfaction out of knowing I have made a difference to people’s days and have filled the home with a sense of community and happiness. We have created a wonderful culture within our home and we work together to give residents the best possible experience. We are here to ensure that residents enjoy an environment that is both stimulating and socially active and ensure we all know each residents' preferences so that we can deliver a person-centered program of events and activities. The strong relationships we build with our residents, their families and friends is essential to our homely feel.

Life at Cookridge Court Care Home

Christmas outing

Our residents had a lovely morning visiting a local primary school to watch their Christmas performance. They were greeted with a reserved table and homemade biscuits. We enjoyed singing along to classic Christmas songs and watching the brilliant performance by the children. The residents were elated and expressed how much Christmassy fun they had!

Residents watch a special performance

Barchester’s Cookridge Court care home, in Leeds, got in the Christmas spirit by visiting a local primary school in Cookridge for their annual Christmas play.

Residents and staff had a brilliant time watching the children of Cookridge Primary School perform and sing beautifully, whilst being greeted with homemade biscuits and their own reserved table. The residents had a blast singing along to all the Christmas hits.

General Manager, Karen Francis said: “We absolutely loved being able to take our residents out and about to visit the local primary school, it makes us all so happy to experience Christmas events like this.  It has been a fantastic day and we’ve all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.”

Cookridge Court Welcomes a new Team Member

Welcoming the newest (and definitely cutest) member of our Cookridge Court Family, say hello to Brody Charles Watson!

As many of you may know our wonderful Activities Co-ordinator Laura, has been taking a well-deserved time-out, while she created this wonderful little human! So many of the residents have been asking after her, anxiously awaiting news, so she decided to surprise us all with a special visit Friday afternoon and the residents and staff couldn't resist having cuddles with this handsome little fella! So we took some snaps for all of you to enjoy...

Welcome to the Team Brody!
