Activities at Cookridge Court Care Home

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Laura Marshall

Head Activities Coordinator (on Maternity leave)

My name is Laura and I am the Head Activities Coordinator here at Cookridge Court. I have worked in care since 2014 and get so much satisfaction out of knowing I have made a difference to people’s days and have filled the home with a sense of community and happiness. We have created a wonderful culture within our home and we work together to give residents the best possible experience. We are here to ensure that residents enjoy an environment that is both stimulating and socially active and ensure we all know each residents' preferences so that we can deliver a person-centered program of events and activities. The strong relationships we build with our residents, their families and friends is essential to our homely feel.

Life at Cookridge Court Care Home

World Book Day

Lovely afternoon reading session at Cookridge Court with a visit from the local primary school as part of our World Book Day celebrations.

Residents love our intergenerational links we have in the local community and talk soon turned into a reminiscence session as they shared fond memories of their own children dressing up for World Book Day.

Residents loved seeing the children dressed up! Thank you for visiting our home today!

Art with Creative Minds

Residents at Cookridge Court enjoy their regular and popular group activities and this week showed their artistic flair with an art class with Tracey from Creative Minds yesterday afternoon!

I think we have some artists at Cookridge Court!

Well done to the residents for taking part in the class and thank you to Tracey for showing us the way!

Happy Purim!

Our Head Chef Sinead has been hard at work this morning, baking some traditional Hamantash sweet treats to share amongst our residents, while we hear the story of Purim. This festival is a favourite amongst many of our residents and staff here, even those of non Jewish faith... we especially love to see all of your costumes!

If you're celebrating today, please show us in the comments section by posting some photos, we'd love to see them and hear your plans!

Meet Bentley...

Hi, I’m Bentley.. Your friendly neighbourhood sausage dog!

Or you can address me by my new official title.. CCO of Cookridge Court. (Chief Canine Officer)

I first came to Cookridge Court in February 2024, I originally just came for the free food, however I stayed to support my new humans. I quickly realised they needed a dog just like me.

Rest assured, your people are in my safe paws. I have an open cage policy so please feel free to say hello when you pop by and bring treats I can be bribed with anything…. Except Sausages!!!!

London Ladies

As part of our International Women’s Day celebrations, Residents from across our services were thrilled to join tour guide, Mandy Morrow, for an exciting talk about some Legendary London Ladies.

Mandy shared the fascinating stories of eight ladies with us, from the one of the richest heiresses in the world to the original 'Roaring Girl'.

Everyone who participated truly enjoyed the experience and were delighted to take a walk down memory lane.

Bingo Bonanza

Across the country our homes and hospitals came together to find out which care home or hospital had the best Bingo players as they teamed up for Barchester’s Bingo Bonanza.

Residents were treated to some exciting virtual games of Bingo as part of Barchester’ very own game show series.

Everyone who participated had a fantastic time and enjoyed some friendly competition.
