Activities at Collingtree Park Care Home

Our specialist activities staff are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from entertainers and musicians. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as they can, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join in with activities and events as often as they can.

Skye Summerton

Activities Coordinator

Hello, my name is Skye and I'm the Activities Coordinator here at Collingtree Park care home. My role is to enrich the lives of our residents by providing stimulating and person-centred activities. We offer something for everyone, including arts and crafts, games and live entertainment including visits to places of interest in the local area. I love to provide one-to-one time and sensory activities with residents who need a little more support.

Getting to know our residents better is so important, and through regular meetings with family and friends I can gain a greater understanding of their loved ones' interests and life prior to joining the Collingtree Park community.

We are an animal friendly care home with a resident cat called 'Bella' and daily visits from our residents' family dogs. We understand the power of PET Therapy and welcome animals of all sizes from mini beasts to the quarterly Alpaca visits a local farm.

We are always open to new ideas. If you would like to get involved in any of our Life Enrichment activities or have a skill, or project you'd like to share with our residents, please click here to contact me direct. New entertainers and community links are always welcome.

Enjoying the Sunshine

Another week of sunshine, means our residents at Collingtree Park have been enjoying getting out into the garden! Here are some of our gents 'catching a tan' and having a chin wag in the sunshine.

Monthly Church Service

This week, we were joined by Vicar James for the monthly church service in our home. Residents enjoyed the readings, as well as sharing a prayer at the end of the service.

Nanette said "everyone really appreciates the vicar coming out to see us, as we can all have an understanding of each other as we all believe in the same thing which is lovely really". We look forward to seeing you next month Vicar.

Happy Hair, Happy Residents!

Thank you to our resident hairdresser, Bev, for paying a visit to our Daisy Lane community this week and helping our residents to feel refreshed for Summer!

Jean was very pleased with her haircut and said "I feel much lighter! You've done a great job".

Bev takes bookings from our in-home salon, and comes to the home twice a week for residents in both of our communities. Thank you Bev!

Reminiscing and Reading

You're never too old to keep learning. This week on our Daisy lane community, Lottie and I have also engaged our residents with reading and reminiscing, which is great for supporting their mental health.

Pamper Day on Daisy Lane

Welcome to the Salon! This week our ladies on Daisy Lane have been pampered, with nails, hair and make up courtesy of our activities and carers. Pam told me "I think you should do this professionally, you would make a lot of money!", and Maureen couldn't thank Pom enough for her hair and make up too.

Derek even got involved and had his pinky painted too!
