Activities at Collingtree Park Care Home

Our specialist activities staff are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from entertainers and musicians. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as they can, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join in with activities and events as often as they can.

Martin Tilly-Reed

Activities Coordinator

Hello, my name is Martin, I'm the activities coordinator here at Collingtree Park

My role is to ensure that our activities, outings and the entertainment we provide is stimulating and inclusive of all our residents no matter their challenges. It is important to me that our weekly calendar offers enriching experiences with music from live entertainers, visits to various locations outside the home, as well as arts and crafts tailored to individual abilities.

Getting to know our residents better is so important, and through regular family and friends’ meetings we can gain a greater understanding of their loved ones' interests and life prior to joining Collingtree Park that will make for a richer activities program to be developed.

I look forward to getting to know you, and your loved ones.

We are always open to new ideas. If you would like to get involved in any of our Life Enrichment activities or have a skill, or project you'd like to share with our residents, please click here  to contact the activities team direct. New entertainers and community links are always welcome.

Story Time

Story Time

Story Time
We had our very first Story Time here at the house, where our “Official Storyteller” came along after School to read to some of our residents in Bluebell Lounge. They listened as our Story Teller read to them “Visiting Gran’s New Home” by Virginia Ironside.
This is another great way of building intergenerational connections between young people and our residents here at the house, our next Story Time is on Wednesday 25th June at 3:45pm, if you would like to join us you would be made very welcome.

No Mow May!

Letting Nature Bloom – No Mow May at Collingtree Park.

Have you heard of No Mow May? We’re proudly taking part in No Mow May by letting parts of our garden grow wild this month to support local wildlife and pollinators.

By giving the lawnmowers a rest, we’re helping bees, butterflies and other insects thrive – and enjoy the beauty of nature right on our doorstep.

It’s a small step with a big impact for the environment and our residents are loving the chance to see more wildflowers and buzzing visitors in the garden!

A Day at the Farm!

What a moo-velous day we had! Our residents enjoyed a wonderful outing to the local farm, where they met friendly animals, soaked up the sunshine, and even got a taste of the countryside life.

Laughter, fresh air, and a few muddy boots made for a truly memorable afternoon. Huge thanks to the farm staff for their warm welcome and to our team for making it all happen!

Virtual Reality Afternoon
We embraced some new technology here at the house today with Darren from Escape2VR.
He took our residents on some amazing adventures, they were able to chose their own adventure and among some chosen were..
Flying in a Spitfire, Trip on a Gondola, Watching Trooping the Colour from the Queen’s Chair, Trip to Madrid’s Royal Palace. For one resident he was able to chose an adventure with horses as he used to have a horse himself.
Everyone really enjoyed this new activity, Martin our Activities Coordinator is always looking at new ways to enrich our residents lives and by using Virtual Reality we can tailor each experience to the residents own interests.
We look forward to welcoming Darren back with us very soon.

Visit from the Beaver Scouts

Visit from the Beaver Scouts .

We were joined by the Canadian Beaver Scouts from 1st Towcester Scout Group, they came along to play some games with our residents and also chatted to them about some of their favourite toys .

For one of our residents in particular Pam it was a trip down memory lane as she used to be a Cub Scout Leader, she was very interested in looking at the badges some of the Beaver Scouts had earned.
After playing games with the residents, the Beavers enjoyed doing an Easter Egg hunt in the gardens followed by cakes and fizzy pop.
We can’t wait to welcome back the Beaver Scouts to the house very soon.
Having these intergenerational activities in the house enriches the lives of not only the residents but that of the children too.
