Activities at Chater Lodge Care Home

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Maria Durrant

Activities Coordinator

Hello. I am Maria and I have lived in Ketton for most of my life. I worked at the local primary school before joining Chater Lodge in 2019. My first role here was as a Dining Host and have now found my passion in creating an interesting and inclusive programme of activities for all our residents. I like having fun with residents, dressing up, singing songs and celebrating special events. I love being a part of the team here and my career change to Activities Coordinator is the best thing I have ever done.

Cool Sweet Treats

Now the hot weather is here, we have been enjoying our own ice cream truck with a variety of flavours and toppings!

Arts and Crafts

Arts and crafts are always a big hit with our residents and they enjoy helping make decorations for all occasions. It’s great to all get together and get creative whilst reminiscing about how they used to decorate for all occasions in their very interesting lives.

VE Day Celebrations

VE Day was celebrated with flags, cakes and old fashioned sweets. We had fish and chips outside followed by 'Pin the Cigar on Churchill', singing and photos taken with our very own Queen Elizabeth.

Armchair Exercise

Here at Chater Lodge, we are keen to keep things as normal as possible, so all staff, including our Manager, have become part of the activities team.

Happy Birthday!

We have had a number of birthdays this month at Chater. Staff are always happy for a reason to celebrate with presents and a cake and a good old burst of Happy Birthday to you!

Knit & Natter Passion

We have had new residents join us recently and found our passion for knit and natter, baking and art club again. It’s wonderful to see residents old and new finding their creative side and learning about their hobbies from the past.
