Activities at Broadway Halls Care Home
Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience, and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Scott Bates
Hi I'm Scott, and I am privileged to be the Activities Co-ordinator at Broadway Halls.
Our Residents are special people with many wonderful stories to tell about their lives, and it is my job to understand their life history, their interests and theirs needs in order to deliver a person centred life enrichment programme.
I enjoy putting smiles on their faces as often as I can. I love to entertain and aim to ensure that every resident's interests and hobbies are supported. I have worked in care and in activities in previous roles, and I love my job!
Outside of work, I am busy being a Father, I try to play football and have a keen interest in metal detecting.
Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies
Life at Broadway Halls Care Home

Intergenerational Fun!
What a lovely morning we have had at Baad babes with the mother and toddler group.
Residents got to interact with children from 0-5 years. When residents visit kids’ nurseries, they step into vibrant spaces filled with laughter, curiosity, and boundless energy. Interacting with young children brings a sense of joy and wonder to seniors, evoking cherished memories and instilling a renewed sense of purpose. Likewise, children benefit from the wisdom, life experiences, and affectionate presence of their older counterparts.
There was so much fun and laughter, everyone was offered a hot drink, toast and snacks.
Residents joined in with the nursery rhymes sang by the children. It was so nice to see the smiles and happiness in everyone involved.
Residents and children form meaningful relationships built on mutual respect, trust, and affection, bridging the generation gap and creating a sense of unity and belonging.
Thank you for letting us join in with the session!

Socialising with PomPoms 4 Loneliness
We went to Social Prescribing Day, hosted by Pom-Poms 4 Loneliness at Jack Newell Court.
There was arts & crafts, a gardening table, various games and even a session of laughter yoga which had our residents in stitches! Entertainment was provided by The Black Country radio Busketeers who sang some of the old songs which they really enjoyed singing and clapping along to.
Hot drinks and delicious cakes were served all morning. The residents had a fabulous time and said it was lovely getting out in the community. Thanks so much to the PomPoms 4 Loneliness team for inviting us!

HCA’s Heartfelt Serenade for Residents
In the bustling halls of the Broadway Halls Care Home, amidst the gentle hum of daily routines, there's a melody that resonates with warmth and compassion. It's the voice of HCA, Paul who works for Summer Hill Surgery, whose heartfelt serenades bring solace and joy to the residents he attends regularly from community. With each note he sings, HCA Paul weaves a tapestry of comfort and connection, uplifting spirits and touching hearts in the most tender of ways.
For Paul, music has always been more than just a hobby; it's been a source of healing and hope. Trained as a HCA, he discovered early on the profound impact that music can have on those in need of comfort and companionship. Drawing from his own experiences and the therapeutic power of song, he embarked on a mission to bring a bit of brightness to the lives of our residents.
It's a great joy to have Paul in our home and singing to our residents, and we can't wait to welcome him back! Thanks again Paul, from everyone at Broadway Halls.

Residents Go Back to School!
Residents went back to school to help pupils at Priory Primary School in Dudley with their phonics and reading. Pupils from the school read their favourite book to different residents, explaining the story and what they enjoy most about the story.
Residents were amazed how well the Year 5 & Year 6 pupils could read, and how much equipment and resources they had! One resident said "we would be lucky if we had two books to share around the class to read when I was at school!"
It was lovely to see the connection between the residents and pupils on school life. The residents learnt new skills and the variety of books available for schools nowadays, and the pupils learnt how different times were at school when the residents were their age.

Xpress Yourself!

Jodie Celebrates 10 Years Service!
Our wonderful Senior Carer at Broadway Halls, Jodie, has received a prestigious 10 Year Service Award in celebration of working at Barchester Healthcare for 10 years.
Jodie started at Broadway Halls in 2010 as a bank Carer, and after a few years decided to become a permanent member of the team in February 2024. Jodie has gone above and beyond with residents and their relatives to ensure that their needs have been met over the years, and as a thank you she was presented with her flowers by resident, Betty.
