Activities at Bloomfield Care Centre

We host a wide range of activities and events here for residents to stimulate them both physically and mentally. Relatives can often be found taking part; for example, they will some times join us on minibus trips and to enjoy entertainers and musical events. There is regular involvement from the local community, with ministers holding services for us weekly, visits from our PAT dog, and a good volunteer network. Additionally, we have recently opened a Dementia Café, which is held on the fourth Tuesday of every month. Activities are an essential part of residents' lives, so we strive to keep them active with a focus on what they can achieve and that life here is fun.

Cathy Jallow

Activities Coordinator

Hello, My name is Cathy and I am the Activities Coordinator at Bloomfield care centre.

I joined the team here at Bloomfield in August 2017 as carer and have since moved into Activities.

The Activities role is varied and one which allows me to plan amazing activities for our residents to ensure their days are filled with lots of fun, laughter and social interaction.

I am always looking for new activity ideas as well as new places to visit, so please give me a call to discuss our life enrichment programme further.

Life at Bloomfield Care Centre

Pamper Session

A resident at the home used to have her nails done by her daughter every week. To keep this lovely tradition going, our team ensures the resident enjoys a pamper and manicure session once a week at Bloomfield too.

Knit and Natter

Some of our residents have organised a Knit and Natter club, where they can enjoy knitting or crocheting together while having a chat and refreshments.

Mini Mannequins

Here at Bloomfield Care Centre, we encourage the residents to reminiscence about their past experiences and all the things they loved doing.

Recently, based on residents' wishes, we had a discussion about fashion and the Swinging Sixties and got involved in an interesting activity with mini mannequins. The ladies had such a fun afternoon.

Keeping active at Bloomfield

Some of our residents at Bloomfield love to keep active and enjoy daily exercise classes, including all the exercises they used to do when they were back at home. Keep it up ladies!

Knitting for children in Africa

One of our residents loves to knit, especially blankets! She knits every day and when the blankets are ready she sends them back to her husband and he then sends them to children in Africa via a charity. We are so proud of all the amazing charitable work she is doing.

Local Choir Singers

We had our local choir singers join us outside our home recently while our residents watched and listened to their beautiful voices. A few of our residents used to be in this choir so it was very meaningful experience to them.
