Activities at Ashlar House Care Home

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Silent Disco

Silent Disco using sound cancelling headphones!

We all know by now the power of music and how important it is to reminiscence. Here at Ashlar House we tried something new introducing “silent discos” to individual music taste.

Music has the ability to bring us joy, comfort, motivation and to help us relax everywhere and anywhere in the home. It may quantum leap some back in time, calm our worried minds or even boost our moods and allow us to dance away in silence.

Chocolate Heaven

Today at Ashlar house we are enjoying the bouquet of freshly made cupcakes and other delightful treats as the Easter Hampers come rolling in from families and the wider community. We have also received a lovely gift of chocolates and hand creams. If that wasn’t enough of a treat we also welcomed Chris Hunt to our home today who serenaded us with POP hits and Classic Jazz Guitar masterpieces.

Music From Robert Jerome

Today's performance at Ashlar House featured a lovely selection of Jukebox classics with hot cross buns, tea and coffee. It was a full house with resident's families invited to attend this special show which encouraged us to get in to the Easter spirit. It was lovely to see many of the residents engage in this activity with their families, seeing smiles on faces making many happy memories together.

Ashlar House Book Club

Bringing back Book Clubs, which promote a love of literature in a positive, nurturing environment. The purpose of any of our clubs is to bring our residents together to learn about and discuss something that matters to them, and the book club is no different.

Easter Music Performance

Welcoming first timer, Pete Morton, to Ashlar house for an Easter singalong!

With our friendly and appreciative full gathering of residents, including Mary who was celebrating her birthday, we sang a wide range of popular favourites. Pete began with ‘Ain’t misbehavin’, followed by ‘King of the road’, and ‘A long way to Tipperary’.

We moved on to Presley, The Beatles, Sinatra and many other gems. It was a joy! Looking forward to welcoming Pete to Ashlar House again!

Easter Fun At Ashlar House

Lots of Easter fun at Ashlar House this year. We made ourselves busy decorating our home for the upcoming Easter celebrations with a mix of spring flowers, rabbit displays and themed eggs, and hosting Easter-inspired activities for our residents.

This afternoon, our residents were delighted to welcome back Performing Pets and to meet their lovely rabbits, ducklings and chicks, they brought festive spirit into the home and put a smile on everyone’s face.

This exciting experience was truly enjoyed by all.
