Activities at Ashlar House Care Home

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Celebrating NHS Birthday

Yesterday, ahead of time, Ashlar House together with Holly Whitbread, County Councillor for Epping and Theydon Bois and District Councillor for Epping Lindsey and Thornwood Common, distributed freshly baked cupcakes to healthcare staff in celebration of the 74th birthday of the NHS. This milestone presented us with opportunities to showcase our support and to acknowledge all local and national health and social workers. We continued to spread joy and happiness today as we delivered cakes and delicious treats to The Limes Medical Centre and St Margaret's Hospital, managed by the Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust. We would like to say a big thank you to all members of the NHS for their continuous hard work, dedication and support. And of course a big shout out to our residents’ families and friends of Ashlar House, who helped making the wonderful cakes for the amazing NHS staff members.

Sports Day

What a wonderful day we all had. We were delighted to attend the Sports Day at our local Coopersale Hall School. Our residents had special VIP seats, so they can enjoy the games and support the children as they took part in various activities such as, running, skipping and bean bag races. The sun was shining and everyone had a brilliant time getting together before the children’s summer break. There were smiles and laughter all around the grounds.

Our Carers Are Amazing

Carers Week this year is being held from 6th - 12th June and provides an opportunity for us all to recognise and celebrate the wonderful carers we have in the Barchester family.

This year's theme is 'Make caring visible, valued and supported'.

Caring should be valued and respected by everyone in our society, and carers should have access to the information and support they need, where and when they need it.

This year Ashlar House Carers received a token of appreciation for their extremely important work and dedication.

Jubilee Street Party

Ashlar House celebrated the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee in style with a whole host of fun-filled activities, live music entertainment and lots of fizz. In recognition of the special occasion the Ashlar House team organised a royal street party; welcomed family, friends and members of our local community who enjoyed a variety of delicious cakes and tea, a BBQ and an ice-cream van.

Ahead of the celebration, our residents and team worked hard to decorate the home with themed flags; colourful banners, flower displays fit for the longest reigning monarch and not forgetting our royal mascots. To make things even more exciting we have the chance to showcase our stylish royal decors and enter the #BarchesterJubilee competition to compete against Barchester homes up and down the country.

Jubilee Entertainment

Today we welcomed back one of our regular singers, the wonderful Carly Ann to Ashlar House to start off our Jubilee celebrations weekend.

Residents, families and staff were dancing and singing, enjoying wartime classics and songs from throughout the Queen's 70 year reign.

Carly Ann was dressed in her wartime attire to mark the occasion. It was an afternoon of pure delight.

International Nurses Day

Today we celebrated the anniversary of the birth of nursing pioneer Florence Nightingale, also known as International Nurses Day, by acknowledging our dedicated and hard-working nurses.

To mark the occasion and to say thank you, our talented chef prepared delicious treats and refreshments for everyone to enjoy.

We received numerous cards and recorded thank you messages from relatives, friends and the local community, which were displayed around the home and shared with the team to make the day extra special.

Every staff member at our home is going above and beyond. A big thank you to all our nurses.
