Activities at Wimborne Care Home
Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.

I have been working in care since 2019 and love the industry. I came from working on cruise ships and running events and activities there which has set me up to be a successful activities coordinator in care. You will never see me without a smile on my face and always bring my fun and bubbly personality to my job. My favourite part of my job is making people cheerful and help make their wishes come true to show people that age is just a number and we can have fun no matter what!

Life at Wimborne Care Home
Birthday Wishes
February was a busy month, with lots of residents celebrating their birthdays, including Margo, who recently had her 85th here at Wimborne. Margo spent the afternoon with her family and staff opening her presents whilst enjoying a gin & tonic with a slice of birthday cake.
Snacks for the Soul
Once a week, residents get together in the kitchen to discuss, cook or bake whichever sweet or savory snack they fancy. Most recently, they decided to bake heart-shaped treats to celebrate Valentine’s Day. All the baked goods were enjoyed with a cup of tea in the afternoon.
Afternoon Tea Dance
Residents were invited to The Red Lion's Afternoon Tea Dance to celebrate Valentine’s Day, specifically created for all the local dementia care homes on the island. There was live entertainment provided by a local singer, games and freshly homemade cakes and sandwiches. All residents commented on how lovely the afternoon was.
Chinese New Year
Residents and staff had a fantastic time celebrating Chinese New Year by enjoying a delicious traditional Chinese supper, all freshly prepared by our Head Chef, Alex. Residents particularly enjoyed the chicken chow mein followed by a pineapple fritter for dessert and a fortune cookie each.
Christmas Party
On the eve of 18th December, residents, relatives and staff all joined us for our Christmas party. There was live entertainment provided by Karen Williams, a festive buffet, raffles and festive games. The evening was a huge amount of fun, with everybody in high spirits, which sparked a lot of memories for residents to talk about.
Christmas Jumper Day
Staff, residents and relatives all got into the Christmas spirit by wearing their favourite Christmas jumpers for the day. The home was full of joy and festive cheer whilst festive drinks and home baked treats were also served throughout the day. It really was beginning to look like Christmas.
