Activities at Westwood House Care Home

As Activity Coordinator at Westwood House I am fully committed to organising activities for all of the residents. This includes activities within the home such as reminiscence sessions, and planning events such as the Summer and Christmas parties. We have also provided some very successful trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and have monthly visits from entertainers and musicians. We are always encouraging local schools to get involved and have recently managed to get a local charity 'Spare tyre' working with us very successfully.

It is important to me that each individual who we support can get as much from these as possible, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and events as often as they can.

Liz Wickers

Lifestyle Coordinator

My name is Liz and I am the lifestyle coordinator at Westwood House. I have always lived and worked in Southwark and Lambeth boroughs. I spent 25 years within the education sector before deciding to try new roles. As well as teaching I have also had the privilege of being a personal carer in Dementia. I am so happy that I have been welcomed into the Westwood House family where I can continue to grow and develop.

I aim to offer a range of varied and tailored activities and group sessions that are meaningful to each of them. I am thrilled to be supporting the team in delivering fun, engaging and interesting activities for our residents.

I look forward to meeting you all!

“OH NO YOU DIDN’T!”, “OH YES WE DID!”

We had a wonderful morning watching Panto at Westwood House.

The Carousel Theatre Company put on a fantastic pantomime for us. Dick Whittington came to visit. The memories of a traditional panto never fail to bring a smile. They had amazing costumes and props and we all felt that we were in a theatre.

It really is beginning to feel a lot like Christmas!

Wonderful Memories Made!

We had a fabulous afternoon here at Westwood House, being entertained by Rosie from #Mackentertainment.

Everyone is included in the fun, there literally are no barriers to dancing at Westwood House. Whether in a wheelchair or using a walking aid, we make fun, laughter and dancing accessible to all.

We boogied hard and all agreed we certainly deserved a cuppa and a slice of lemon drizzle cake, perfectly baked by Derek our Chef.

Wonderful days = Wonderful memories.

Christmas Jumper Day

So many wonderful and jolly jumpers worn today at Westwood House. As you may be aware we are raising much needed donations to support the 'Save the Children' charity. They support children in over 100 countries and give so much, not just donations, but their time, dedication and commitment to ensuring no child suffers.

We will have our donation box at reception throughout December, please donate whatever you can.

Every penny counts!

On behalf of all of the Westwood team we thank you for your continued support.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

Such a magical time of the year. At Westwood House we just love a get together, so we had a wonderful time decorating our tree, eating mince pies and drinking quite a lot of mulled wine. The residents were on bauble duty and we were joined by our fabulous relatives, they were on decorating duty. We really have a fantastic community here at Westwood, and it's great when to see so many of you enjoying yourselves. We do have a giggle. Thank you to Margaret and Liz who kept us all on track. Our General Manager, Yanique was very excited to switch on the lights, this is her first Christmas with us and we know she is going to just love it. Lots of fun, laughter and treats.

Westwood House Rocks!

We were so excited to have Becki visit us at Westwood House. She entertained us throughout the afternoon with songs from the musicals.
Becki ensures all of the residents are engaged in the performance by bringing a whole range of props that we have so much fun with. The props are a fantastic sensory aid, helping to give a fun, real and tangible experience.
We had a try at playing the spoons, we created a rainbow using silk scarves and quite a few of us couldn't resist wearing the hats.
Our staff also couldn't contain themselves and enjoyed having a boogie.
Becki will most definitely be returning in the New Year.

Spooky Shenanigans!

It’s been a spooky day at Westwood House, getting ready for Halloween. We invited ‘Mavis Westwood’ (Staff chose the name) to join us and she will take pride of place in reception.

We have had many giggles using the props and taking photos.

Please do join in and take your own photos, you can find props at reception. Feel free to send your photos to us. It would be great to see your Halloween antics.

Have a spookingly, happy Halloween everyone!
