Activities at Tixover House Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.
Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.

Caroline Geddes
Hello, my name is Caroline and I joined the team at Tixover House in 2023.
I am passionate about creating person-centred activities which ultimately enrich our residents' lives. My main aim is to bring happiness through the doorway daily; spreading smiles, laughter and love - I want to make a difference to the lives of those that we support.
Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies
Life at Tixover House Care Home

Mad Hatters Tea Party with a twist
Tixover House opened their doors to the local community for an afternoon of fun and entertainment on Monday 12th August.
Residents and guests enjoyed a Madhatter’s themed tea party with refreshments prepared by the home’s chef, complete with Michelle’s Animal Therapy & Petting Party visiting for the afternoon. We had the pleasure of welcoming nine ‘furry friends’ to our home, we heard lots of interesting facts and stories about the animals and had the opportunity to hold each of the animals.

Exploring a local nature trail
Once the rain cleared this morning, residents enjoyed a summer’s morning exploring a local nature trail, having enjoyed cool blueberry drinks and lemon drizzle cakes.
We enjoyed the signs along the way, trail advisories, ‘Tyrannosaurus Rex has recently been reported in the area. The T-rex is now native to the state!’
As well as this we stopped for rest in the ‘Hedgehog corner,’ lots of stops on benches for rest in the warmth.
We look forward to returning to complete the nature trail on a cooler day!

Gentleman's Club
This afternoon we took our Gentleman’s Club (welcome to all to attend), outside to our main courtyard.
We sat beneath the umbrella for shade and enjoyed playing the Yes Or No game and Catchphrase, passing the time from lunchtime to our evening meal!
We shared a glass of red wine or Prosecco, soft drinks and ice lollies.
It was a great time, hours shared amongst friends, laughing at the content of the games as well as having much conversation and sharing amongst the group, it was a lovely friendly, inclusive setting for all to attend.
Same again tomorrow if the thunderstorms hold off?

Main lounge filled with the wonderful sounds of Saxophonist Zechariah
Yesterday we had the pleasure of having Saxophonist Zechariah entertain our Main Lounge full of residents.
Zechariah said ‘it was a joy to perform to you all on this fine summers day.’
He filled the sounds of our home with his saxophone, whilst residents soaked in the sounds, to the cool breeze coming through our courtyard doors, with a cold drink and ice lolly in hand.
It was such a lovely way to pass an afternoon together within a social setting.

Homes join 100th virtual event
Barchester care homes and hospitals nationwide linked together for a fantastic quiz in celebration of Barchester’s 100th live virtual event.
Residents engaged in a variety of questions ranging from historical trivia to visual puzzles and brainteasers.
Everyone who joined had a fantastic time and enjoyed some friendly competition.

Local Vineyard visit
