Activities at Springvale Court Care Home

Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.

Jess Bruford

Activities Coordinator

Hi, My name is Jess and I am Activities Coordinator here at Springvale Court. I am delighted to join the team, joining in December 2023 but I have found my feet with ease. I spend time getting to know all of our residents and this helps me to arrange meaningful activities based on individual likes and interests. I love spending time with our residents, be it chatting one to one, small reminiscing groups or large group activities.

I am looking forward to learning and growing with Barchester and I am always open to any ideas for new and different activities so please stop and chat with me.

Life at Springvale Court Care Home

Live Music Performance

Residents and guests at Springvale enjoyed an afternoon of grins with a live music performance that took place at the home. Local church choir performed a selection of hymms and songs that they regularly perform in and around the community.  The hospitality team at the home provided a spread of sweet and savoury treats for guests to enjoy during the show.

General Manager, Judith Tully said, “Our residents and guests had a wonderful day singing along with the wonderful performers. We do our best to provide a wide range of activities and entertainment at the home as part of the lifestyle enrichment programme for residents, and this was one was one of our favourites.”

Residents Kick Start Festive Spirit

Residents are already gearing up for the festive season and added a touch of festive spirit today by beginning to create their Christmas decorations with their equal arts and Hill Top School project.

It was all very creative! They used twigs from the garden to make their decorations, with green ribbon to make Christmas trees.

One of their residents made a decoration with an acorn that they can hang on their Christmas tree, white paint was used for the acorn to make it look like snow! It was a lovely morning and everyone can’t wait until they visit again. The home has so much fun when the children visit and it makes everyone happy and Residents were delighted when the children waited on them to serve the tea and slice of delicious home-made cake.

Residents Enjoy a Spooky Time

Residents at Springvale Court enjoyed getting creative with a spooktacular  afternoon of pumpkin carving. Residents got stuck in and worked as a team to make the best pumpkins to be displayed throughout the home! They had to hold their noses, as they were very smelly! They even had slimy hands.

It was a fun-filled morning as they carved their masterpieces and sung-along to legendary Frank Sinatra as his music played in the background. The interactive group session allowed residents to take a trip down memory lane as they fondly recalled how they used to carve turnips in their childhoods and it was wonderful to hear as they shared their stories.

Even staff got into the act with their fabulous costumes to the delight of everyone including the visitors!

Here we go again!

Residents at Springvale welcomed back popular musical entertainment, Musical Memories, for an afternoon of toe-tapping hits from iconic Swedish legends, Abba.

Musical Memories performed a medley of songs from this world famous band, who topped the charts worldwide from 1974 to 1982, which got residents singing, on their toes dancing and clapping along throughout.

The afternoon treat was followed by refreshments and a slice of home-made cake with the sounds of humming heard around the room long after the performance had ended. Residents are looking forward to their return visit!

Community Church Choir

Community Church Choir

Our home invited a choir from Wrekenton Methodist Community Church to sing for the residents as a part of Dementia Café initiative. Everybody had a lovely time and we were all delighted to see the residents respond with such vigour. Joyce and the choir will be back again in November. We are all excited.
