Activities at Southgate Beaumont Care Community

Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.

Zoe Grindley

Activities Coordinator

Hello My name is Zoe, I have been in the life enrichment team at Southgate Beaumont since December 2021.

I am originally from Liverpool and moved to London in 1997 after being accepted at Mountview Theatre school. After graduating I worked as an actress and accomplished voiceover artist for many years. I also have a vast amount customer service experience, working in many West End Theatres, as Cabin crew for Virgin Atlantic and at Claridges hotel in Mayfair.

Zoe has a passion for making strong connections with people and creating lasting memorable experiences.

My role here at Southgate Beaumont is to ensure our residents lives are packed full of enriching and interesting activity. We provide a wide range of both home led and community led activity for all residents as well as personalised and individual hobby and interest focused events. Our programme ranges from cocktail making, to art history talks, exercise sessions as well as fine dining dinner parties catered for by our chefs

I have made lots of lovely new friends at Southgate Beaumont care home and look forward to making many more.

Life at Southgate Beaumont Care Community

Our monthly art lecture, all welcome.

Our first Art lecture of the year with Dr Mark Banting had a fantastic turnout.

These monthly lectures are open to all members of the community, as well as to our residents and are extremely popular.

It’s a wonderful way to connect socially, enjoy some light refreshments and gain an insight into some extraordinary artists.

The next event takes place on the 16th February exploring the work of Henri Matisse in Russia.

We hope to see you all there!

A very talented bunch

We are always encouraging our residents to join in with our activities.

Even if someone can’t do something, our sessions always seem to turn into a nice chat and some company for each other.

We really enjoyed this relaxed morning and everyone enjoyed having a go at drawing different objects.

We certainly have a very talented bunch of ladies!

Morris is truly magic!

Some people in this world just have a natural gift to entertain and Morris Tamir is one of those people.

He has been performing at Southgate Beaumont as well as many other Barchester care homes and hospitals for a number of years now.

His gift of singing in 44 languages makes him so unique and his absolute passion in what he does, brings so much joy to residents. Morris performs to both residents in the lounge and visits the bedrooms to perform for those who are nursed in bed, and never passes an opportunity to burst into song around the home.

He takes song requests and has given so much comfort, especially when people are extremely poorly.

We are so fortunate to have someone like Morris and he continues to perform tirelessly, with his heart every single time.

Christmas wreath making at Walker School.

Thank you to Walker Primary school for a lovely afternoon making Christmas wreaths.

All proceeds from the wreaths that are sold will go towards projects for the school, so it was a very worthy cause.

It was wonderful to get into the festive spirit with members of our community and our residents did such a wonderful job.

Southgate Beaumont's Christmas Market.

What a wonderful time we had at our first Christmas Market. There was an array of wonderful goodies for people to peruse. Residents were joined by their loved ones and our friends from the local community and shopped all the lovely artisan and home made crafts that were ideal for Christmas gifts and of course a treat for them selves. We hosted a raffle, which the stall holders kindly contributed towards and a tombola and raised over £250. The money raised will be go towards Samantha's Shelter fund raising and an activities project at Southgate Beaumont.

Dan, our Head Chef, made delicious mulled wine and home baked mince pies that filled the home with the smell of Christmas and were absolutely yummy.

Thank you to all of the fabulous stall holders that joined us, every one who visited the Christmas market and of course our amazing team including Mark our volunteer for making it such an amazing event and raising money for such a worthy cause.

Christmas Jumper Day at Southgate Beaumont

Christmas Jumper Day at Southgate Beaumont. Staff and residents went to great effort to celebrate this years Christmas Jumper Day.

Wearing our jumpers brought a lot of smiles to everyone’s faces and it was lovely that so many of our residents wanted to take part.

Eventually our prize was awarded to Emire from our maintenance department.

Everyone loved his Rudolf jumper!

Congratulations Emire.
